drew03cmc Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Hey all, help me out here please. I am looking for an older glass spinning rod from 5-6 feet long and for use with 4-10 pound line. Let me know what you have and what you are seeking for it. Andy
ollie Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 WHY? Why would you want one when there is soooo much better out there today made? Just curious. eric1978 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 My guess would be that Chief outfished him five to one last weekend, and Andy thinks the glass rod was the reason. Just messin' with ya Andy, but I'm right, right?

Just messin' with ya Andy, but I'm right, right? Not quite, but you all might be surprised to know that I prefer glass to carbon. I have fished glass fly and spinning rods and they are a better fit for my style. Andy
ollie Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Surprised indeed! Once I got ahold of a graphite it was no turning back for me. Chief Grey Bear Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I have fished graphite, boron and still do, and they have their place. But I still love to use my glass rods out on the river. In fact I have 3 of them, 2 fenwick woodstream Fenglass 5 1/2 footers and a 5'2" Shakespeare Wonderod with a gold Shimano BantamProMag 100X SG that is just a blast to use with soft plastics! I also have some glass fly rods. One is a St. Croix and a fenwick. Which can be a lot of fun to toss around sometimes. Like Dano says, Glass has Class! But like you, I do like graphite or boron when it comes to my lite spin rods. About time to break them out for the winter too!!! drew03cmc Posted October 21, 2010 Author Posted October 21, 2010 I just bought a graphite stick for the interim, but will be getting a glass rod to fish with on creeks and what not. The glass is, in my opinion, a better fishing tool for creeks. Andy
eric1978 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 The glass is, in my opinion, a better fishing tool for creeks. Uh, why?
Larry Richards Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Uh, why? You might try the goodwill stores, thats the only place I have seen them
drew03cmc Posted October 21, 2010 Author Posted October 21, 2010 Uh, why? I like the softer actions and the ability to feel everything. Graphite is okay but lacks some of the sensitivity, imo. Andy
