Billfo Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I bought my slip & lift along with the house. Prior owner had a 24' fiberglass bowrider so the lift was "set up" for his boat. The lift has not been "fitted" to my boat. I need someone to add stuff my lift that will help guide & center my boat on the lift. Right now, I have to eyeball it- hold it with one foot & push pull with my hands as the lift raises. Sometimes I have to raise & lower a few times..I should be able to ride right on the skids like a drive on trailer.. I have been fortunate so far that it has NOT been windy.. Seems everyone & their mom has a lift business on hwys 13 & 86 and we all know the nightmare stories with some Missouri contractors. Can someone recommend a good place that will not over charge me ? Im in the Trace Hollow area (Big Indian Creek). Attached is a picture. You can see what I have now.. Also when the lift is all the way down, it is about 3 feet underwater. Thanks for the help. Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
Nitroman Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Call L&H Dock Service @ 1-417-779-4080 & ask to talk to Jim Best. He can be hard to get ahold of @ times, if so his CELL# is 1-417-339-6618. Call him @ his office 1st. If you have to call him on his cell tell him I gave you his #. Jim will treat you right & he will do the job right the 1st. time. He does not believe in nor will he get involved in " HILLBILLY ENGINEERING " which is very common around here. Rock View Resort Table Rock Lake Greg Pope, Owner/Operator & Fishing Guide

Tom Blake at Blake's Econolift. 1-888-779-5721 or cell 417-464-2111 Everyone on our dock agrees that he is the best. Reliable, fair price, and usually can get to you pretty quick. Tell him Don from Arrowhead Dock recommended him.
skeeter Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Billfo, A very big DITTO on Tom Blake. Have never heard a single complaint about Tom. Reliable, answers his phone, shows up when he says he will and from your pictures, it is apparent you have one of his "Econo-Lifts" that he sells, installs and services. Tom installed my lift for a bass boat, my Daughter's lift for a deck boat and a good friend's and neighbor's lift for a Tri-toon so he can adjust the bunks to correctly accomodate your boat which is VERY important. Tom is a local and his shop is on Hwy 13 both are close by to Trace Hollow. You will not be sorry.
gitnby Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Thanks I will jot that down !!! "" HILLBILLY ENGINEERING"" I can do that ! LOL.. Tom Blake wouldn't know about "Hillbilly Engineering" anyway. He is originally from Iowa. Really a good guy!
Bill Babler Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Good luck on the lift. Hope you are not leaving those electronics and gear in your beautiful boat. Coming into the Fall season with less lake traffic, you are taking a huge risk if you are with what looks like very quality gear. When I was on the State Waterpatrol, we arrest a guy one time on Lake O. for stealing gear out of boats. His response, was that anyone that left fishing gear in a boat on a dock, probably didn't want it anyway. Same thing with the SS Prop. Voice of Experence. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Sounds like you can do it yourself pretty easily. If the bunks are at the correct distance apart all you have to do is attach a chain to the dock and the other end to one of the rear lift corners and adjust it so the boat just barely floats off in the down position. This stops the lift from going under 3 feet. Then your are set.... when you drive on it will center itself.
