RSBreth
Thanks for the info. I like the swivel for when I am fishing a tube, which is what I have on that rod/reel now, but I will definitely learn the blood knot. What do you find to be the best knot for Fireline to lure? I've never used fireline before, but for the braid I am using on my baitcaster, (super pro) I have been using the Palomer knot, and I've used the Trilene knot and the Palomer for Fluoro, which has been working well so far. On a side note, I also read your article on your blog about finesse jigs, which is one of my favorite lures. I used the Bitsy Bug, quite a bit, but like you said it has a sub-par hook, and I had trouble with the skirts sliding down. I found a locally made jig by a company called P.J.'s Finesse Baits, (I am in no way associated with them), they make for the money the best finesse jig I have found. They use a quality Mustad hook, and good silicon skirt, etc). They are decently priced (2 pack is $4.60), so about 30 cents more than the Bitsy Bug, but worth it. I get them at my local tackle shop here in Fayetteville (Southtown sporting goods). Here is a link to their website: http://ejigs.com/Fil..._JIGS_4632.asp? Again, thanks for your help. Thanks, I've seen those jigs, but I'm going a different route - I'm modifying a mold to make my own the exact way I want them, should be up and running with that by the end of the month. I don't tie Fireline direct as I only use it on spinning gear with a leader, but for spinnerbaits with braid I use the doubled Uni. Basically go through the eye of the hook twice, then make a Uni knot and cinch it down. I've never had it fail. Like this, but go through the hook eye twice:http://www.netknots....l/uni_knot.html There's some guy who claims he invented this knot and is trying to get some recognition from winning "Knot Wars" on NAFC, but basically he just gave it a name. If you can stand the interminable video, here's the way to tie it. Not like I care, but I do think it's funny that he claims to have invented a knot that one of my brothers showed me how to tie about 20 years ago, and he got it from some crusty old timer who showed him. DChance
FC line is tough to use on spinning gear, but sounds like you may have overfilled. It also depends on the brand. Some FC lines are stiffer and not as limp as others. If not, use some KVD Line and Lure conditioner and it will help tremendously with line memory. tjulianc
In this case it wasn't over filled, I stripped a lot of line out and still the same problem. I have decided to go with fireline, and tie on a leader when fishing clear water. I don't know yet whether I like the fireline or not, it is a lot stiffer than what I am use to for a "superline", and I kind of wish that I just used a good braid, like Power Pro. For now I will just stick to using fluoro on my bait casters, where I have had no problems, and really like it.

Fireline needs a little "breaking in" before it gets real nice and fishable - probably why some folks don't like it. It gets better. PowerPro also seems to need a little time to loosen up, at least the spools I've bought.
Dutch
I think I may just give up on using 100% fluoro with my spinning reel. I am very frustrated with it. If I go with braid, and want to tie on a fluoro leader, what knot is recommended? Thanks. The Alberto's knot is the only one I have found that won't break at the knot. I have tried most knots that are out there with limited or no success. http://www.stripersonline.com/Pages/Articles/article_arby_albertos_knot.shtml
denjac
I just dont get the Floro craze. I have tried it several times and several brands. I dont get along with it, get a nick and its done for, get a kink in the spool , its done for . Very finicky stuff in my opinion . The cons out weight the pros for me. Maybe I am missing the boat? stlfisher
Fluoro always seems to want to fly of the spool on spinning gear. It seems to get worse the higher pound test you use. I agree that braid with a fluoro leader is the best setup on spinning gear. I actually, use a really long fluoro leader on mine....that way I can fish all day with out having to retie another leader. tjulianc
Thank you Dutch, for sharing the Alberto knot. I tried it out, and much stronger than a triple surgeon and double uni. Pretty easy to learn too.
inshore
just moved back up here from fl. several months ago. used power pro for both inshore and off shore fishing. fish from two pounds to over one hundred. always used fluro leader with the power pro. found make one more wrap with the power pro . for instance on 10 lb to 10 lb use 4wraps of fluro to 5 wraps of braid hardly ever broke. what i did find would break the knot was drag set to tight with braid use half what you use on mono.
