oneshot Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Ok I have 20 acres close to Bennett Spring way back in the Hills.Been here 17 years. I have a Small Lot close to Warsaw, several people around during the Summer. Main reason for keeping the 20 acres is Deer Hunting mainly Opening weekend of Firearms season. The place at Warsaw is 42 miles from my Church and 30 miles from my Doctor won't change either. Could keep the 20 but still owe a Large Second Mortgage on it so if sold I would be basically Debt Free. Love both Places. Ideas?? oneshot
Wayne SW/MO Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 I've never lived at Truman, but have lived in your area. If it were me, the dam, the lake, the vast amount of public land for hunting and the chance to be debt free would have me putting up a For Sale sign. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
fishinwrench Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 darn if I would make a monthly mortgage payment all year long, just to have a place to kill a couple of whitetails in the Fall. For what you are paying you could hunt muleys or elk at one of those killer lodges in Colorado while your ol'lady soaks in the jucuzzi. Would you be interested in selling 4 of your 20acres ? Is it in Laclede or Dallas co ?

Yea I thought about the fact Debt Free and my Pension could do some Traveling. Would you be interested in selling 4 of your 20acres ? Is it in Laclede or Dallas co ? No couldn't do that but I figure the whole place should be worth $40K. Its in Dallas County across the highway from Lead Mine CA. oneshot
Members BigMinnow Posted November 19, 2010 Members Posted November 19, 2010 I have lived in Warsaw on Truman, and I am trying to move back up that away, just need to find a job up there. I know that the Corp. land around warsaw is public, but I think its about the most secluded you could get, I would give about anything right now to be debt free. I hope everything works out for you.
podum Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Oneshot, whatever you choose to do, I wish you good luck and Godspeed. Having seen you in action, you'll catch em whereever you land. I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
Members catfishjohn Posted November 20, 2010 Members Posted November 20, 2010 We were at Warsaw last week...they were catching catfish, crappie, bass....yes, I would live there! We saw a lot of deer in the back of trucks, too.
Members catmanjeff Posted December 6, 2010 Members Posted December 6, 2010 Sell it get out of debt. There's a good reason why the good book says "borrower is slave to the lender". On the other hand if the market there is slow you might wait till spring or,,,,,, set up a pay to hunt fee and make a few $$$ letting others hunt your land. My dad lived there for2 years and just moved away from there in september. He has lung cancer and is very frail so it became necessary for him to move close to Columbia. The fishing there was ok but I never did learn the territory enough to catch a lot of fish. I considered moving there myself to help take care of my dad but there wasn't any work. GITTERDONE!!!!!!!
oneshot Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 Well I killed another Doe up there and Guys were catching Crappie. My City neighbor is doing stuff I'm not sure of.Wife has Finals at School this week. She says get set up,up there then think things over. With my Pension even if she isn't working we will have extra. oneshot
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 My aunt and uncle lived right above it on a bluff for many years. They were near Tightwad off of 7. They would still be there if he hadn't passed. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
