Wondering what you guys think is the best baitcaster reel for 100 dollars or less? Been looking at BPS online and reading reviews. The BPS Pro Qualifier seems to have great reviews with over 260 reviews but i am weary of BPS products as they are usually junk. Anyone have experience with this reel? Other suggestions and opinions of other brands and models would be great. Thx.

Yep the Citica, tacklewarehouse has a 20% sale that ends tonite, so you could get it for $99 with free shipping at TW. Or as Eric says, check out Ebay.

I would have to agree with with Citicas, the Pro Qualifiers are also a very good reel for the money. I have also had good luck with the BPS Extreme reels.

Here's another vote for the Citica. The E models are incredible for the price and you can always find a deal online for less that the MSRP.

Pinnacle -- Tara or Lucille if you can find them anymore. These have the 6 pin centrifugal brake and no dial on the side that goes from 1 to 10. Round top hat shaped tips on the 6 pin brake under the side cover. I have also have several of the original Bass Pro Tourney Special reels before they went to the ones with the dials/magnetic brakes. They had a version of the centrifugal brake too. But alas as far as I can tell are no longer available. I bought the Pinnacle reels at Walmart for 70 or 80 bucks. Would not trade them for any of the more expensive ones. The Bass pro reels I paid 50 bucks apiece for and they are just a slight notch below the Pinnacles. The funny thing about the Pinnacle reels, I stumbled upon them when I first started using baitcasters. We managed to accidentally snag one of the Taras trolling for white bass one day. It looked like it had been in the water for a year or two. I took it home and took it apart and cleaned and oiled everything. It ended up being better than all the new reels I had bought to date. I used it until the bearings seized up 1 or 2 years later. That's when I noticed them in the glass case at Walmart. I'd search the internet to see if you can find them anywhere. The nice thing about the Pinnacles I found out that you can send worn out reels in the the company and have them rebuilt. Not sure of the cost as I have yet to wear out any of the ones I bought new.

I'll second the Bass Pro Extreme. I've had one for several years with no problem. I bought it at the catalog outlet store in Springfield for half price ($40).
