abkeenan Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Anyone have a suggestion or recommendation for a soft tackle bag? One with plenty of storage able to fit 6 or more utility boxes in it. All opinions welcome. What you guys using? Thx.
MstStudent10 Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Do not get the KVD line of tackle bags thats all I can say. Within 2 months of me getting it, all the zippers were broken, as well as a giant rip down the side where the stitching was. If you are wanting a soft tackle bag for applications as a co-angler for example, I have a couple buddies who do the following: They just have a smaller duffel bag, or gym bag I guess, like nike brand or adidas, or something else like that. Maybe you have one laying around. Then they just buy the clear plastic plano boxes separate, or maybe they already had those boxes. This approach may be cheaper than buying one of those tackle bags. Plus, if you use a duffel/gym bag thats a little bigger than your clear tackle boxes, it gives you extra room to throw packs of soft plastics in there, while not stretching out your bag and breaking it. And you can switch out the lures in your plastic boxes, or even the whole boxes themselves, depending on what your doing or what season it is. As I said, the only prob I have with those soft tackle bags is that they are made pretty snug as is. If you like loading them down with other things like line spools, attractant, or soft plastic packs ( I have all my jig trailers in mine cuz they go with my jig box) they have a tendency to get packed fast, then they bust. But I guess this is more in the case when you're a co angler and you try to pack all your stuff in one compact bag. If you don't pack it like that, they're prolly alright. Good luck to ya, I don't think I really helped ya, lol... Set the hook first, ask questions later...

steveearle Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Advanced-Angler-Pro-Series-Tackle-Bags-without-Boxes/703224.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dtackle%2Bbag&Ntt=tackle+bag I have had the Cabela's Advanced Angler Pro Series Tackle Bag for quite a while and would highly recommend. You can buy 4 sizes...They hold 4, 6, 8, or 12 Plano 370s and have 2 side pocket and a front pocket. You can get it with- or without boxes. They also have a molded bottom so that it keeps its shape. The "Super Magnum" that holds 12 370s is the biggest bag that I know of and the one that I carry. I usually fill it with back up tackle that I dont put in the boat...
Billfo Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 When I fish as a non boater in someone elses boat, I use an ordinary backpack !! Not cause I am cheap (but I am), but a normal backpack has plenty of side pockets & external compartments & they come in lots of sizes.. I have had many many tackle bags & boxes & prefer a nice backpack.. I know... "cheap bastards club"... Anyone have a suggestion or recommendation for a soft tackle bag? One with plenty of storage able to fit 6 or more utility boxes in it. All opinions welcome. What you guys using? Thx. Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !

Sore Thumbs Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Not sure how you are using your tackle box but I recommend a backpack style. I have a Shimano backpack that comes with three plastic organizers on bottom. That bottom compartment can be removed if you want a smaller backpack on top. The top part will also hold three plastic organizers if needed. The backpack has shoulder straps and straps that go around your waist to make it more comfortable when you have a lot of gear inside. On the outside edges there are two mesh compartments that will hold beverages or you can put the butt ends of several rods in those same compartments and there are tie downs above that will tighten up to hold rods in place so you can be hands free and still carry four rods and all your gear. These are awesome if you are fishing a random draw co-angler event or if you like going to ponds or streams. You know Shimano makes good reels. So I would think these backpacks are gonna last. I have had mine for several years with no problems. Check them out. As Bill Dance would say they are as handy as a pocket on a shirt. Good Luck.
TRRANGER Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I have been searching for a bag for some time and found it this weekend by accident at Cabela's. It hold 7 370 boxes and comes with them. It was on sale for $29.99 had pockets zippers and all kinds of storage. I still dont know how well it will hold up yet but for that rpice the 370 boxes are worth the risk. It appears as nice as any I have found and I have looked for sometime to find what I wanted. Lots of tackle room padded strap and places for extra like pliers scents and the stuff you need for a day of fishing out of someone elses boat. It was green and black with red writing on the front. regular rpice was 59 or 69 I cant remember. But was a really nice tackle bag. The price made it even nicer. TR
