A buddy of mine and I are planning on a trip to Blue Springs Creek on Friday if work doesn't get in the way. Can any of the locals tell me how the water and fishing is? Did Bourbon get any of the rain that St. Louis did over the last couple of weeks. Also...are there spawning beds the whole length of the creek or just at the headwaters at the spring? If the whole length, what am I looking for? This is my first trip to wild water, and I don't want to mess anything up. Thanks In Advance.

mic,

I just looked the USGS for the Meremac at Steelville and the water is very close to normal level for this tiem of the year, so count on the water at Blue Springs to be very clear!

All I can say about this stream is be patient. The holes are very small and narrow. Most holes are less than 3' deep there a just a fever deeper than that. When you get to teh hole, take some time to re-adjust your rig. The fish like to hide for a little bit of time when they hear a little noise. Good luck and have some fun. this is a cool little stream.

Ditto...last time I fished BSC was during a 10-12' rise on the Meramec. BSC was only up about a foot, and a touch cloudy so it should be low and clear right now. Sneak up, and make that first cast count! Cheers.
