Members Troutguy Posted December 9, 2010 Author Members Posted December 9, 2010 After measuring my Toyota truck bed, my boat will be 36" wide. Then I can slide it in the back of my truck, or build a trailer one day down the road. Life is good...
Goggle-Eyed Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I have a couple of 17' lowe paddle jons and they are very stable. We do a couple of overnighters out of them every summer (Niangua). When we go on an overnighter it takes about an extra 300lbs of gear and the boat has never felt "tippy" to me...
lee G. Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I think you will like a 36 incher, if i build one this spring i am going with 36 also Troutguy. I found pictures of the 40 inch boat, ill try to figure out how to post them.
lee G. Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 The guy in the last two pictures weighs about 250 lbs
gotmuddy Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Gotmuddly... My sawmill friend keeps Cypress in 20' lengths cut, but I am several hundred miles away. where do you live? It may be worth the drive to keep from having a seam in the middle of my boat. My last jonboat was 42" wide and it had great stability, but I would not use it on a class II river either. where is your sense of adventure?? There are parts of crooked creek that could easily be class 2 and that is the first place I intend to try out the boat. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
woodman Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Lee how much does that boat weigh.... http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
lee G. Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 That the 16 ft 40 incher woodman, it was around 145 150 lbs.
