stlfisher Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 OB I think I am going to sit this one out. I will join in next time, but I do want to get a little more experinced tying. Need to make a trip to Hargrove's for some pointers.
ness Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I'm in. Put me down for ness' X-tra Terrestrial. Hopefully I can beat the deadline. John
DaddyO Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 (Sorry for the double post. I didn't see this one until I posted in the other one.) I'll be tying a #14 Hair & Copper. Hook: #14 Scud Hook Thread: Brown Tail: Pheasant Tail fibers Rib: Copper wire Body: Brown Dubbing (brushed out to look buggy) I've used this fly to catch fish in every river system that I have fished. It drops through the water and gets to the bottom fast. It is a great fly to use on a riffle that drops to a deep pool or to drop it in those pockets behind logs and rocks that almost always hold fish. I've tied them as large as a #12 and as small as a #16, but, the most productive size seems to be the #14. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
eric1978 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 More than likely I'll do a pine squirrel leech. Nothing fancy but they're as fishy as it gets. I'll let you know if I change my mind.
flytyer57 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Right now I'm thinking of tying a version of the woollybugger that I have caught most of my trout on this year. That may change if I can't find the right materials I need. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Trout Commander Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Put me down for a Magic PTN I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Gavin Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Not sure what I plan to tie...thinking of something sculpin like, but maybe not...
