Did you see any mention of tickets, charges, or wrongdoing? Did you see how this article included the regulations regarding protection of the personal property unlike the first.

That doesn't make it legal. Did you notice how the artical left out the regulations regarding Mt.Lions? I guess with your way of thinking I would be justifed in shooting you in the head because it is a known fact that you always carry a firearm and I find that to be threatening to my safety as well as threatening to others of society.

Plus there is a whole list of violations could have been brought against him. Probably wouldn't stick though. He is the hero at the local CO-OP.

3 CSR 10-4.110 (1)No, see following and note the rule that allows it if other laws imply as specifically permitted.

3 CSR 10-4.110 (3)No, closer to the reason, don't need a permit to protect property because landowners don't need permits on own land.

3 CSR 10-4.110 (4)No, no season or salvage order on this species.

3 CSR 10-4.130 (1)No, not Federally regulated, back to state rules, note exception Mountain Lion.

3 CSR 10-4.130 (6)Bingo, they may have been threatening livestock, personal property, or the landowner himself, sorry, no violation

3 CSR 10-4.141.. No, he was only in possession until he reported the kill to the agent, which was stated in article that he did in a timely manner, then he was legal.

Good effort, no reason to charge him for anything according to Greybear unless he comes up with other code violations. Check your Wildlife Code Book to verify, mine was issued March 1 2010.

Please note, we did this without any name calling.

3 CSR 10-4.110 (1) Very cut and clear violation.

3 CSR 10-4.110 (3) OK a stretch but he still had no permits

3 CSR 10-4.110 (4) There was no emergency that the public interest justifed the murder of a rare species.

3 CSR 10-4.130 (1) Hold on cowboy, we have doubt. And you didn't read it correctly.

3 CSR 10-4.130 (6) That was the easiest one. What threat was he in a tree?? NONE. Goofball Jones slips out of bed due to some potlickers raising a ruckus. Sorry blanant violation.

3 CSR 10-4.141 OK that was also a stretch but since he is in violation of all of the other ones, this one count too.

With all the news media surrounding this dead cat, the MDC can no longer claim that there are no mountain lions in MO.

Right now, debate on whether or not it was a legal kill is as useless as listening to Glenn Beck and Kieth Olbermann discuss politics.

The animal is dead. The Missouri Department of Coservation now has to make the decission whether or not to file charges. If they do fine. If not, oh well. If you don't like the outcome vote for a new chief of the dept.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Missouri Dept. of Conservation Thanks for your question, John. Conservation agents have completed an investigation into the shooting of this mountain lion and determined that charges are not warranted. We don't condone indiscriminate shooting of mountain lions, but we also acknowledge that landowners must be able to protect their property and livestock under certain limited, circumstances. Conservation agents regularly issue summons and make arrests when people indiscriminately kill wildlife, but in this case the evidence doesn't prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime was committed.

Sounds to me like the MDC decided not to make an issue out of it. This could have just as easily went the other way.

And since 1994 they haven't. But there is no evidence of a resident breeding pair. Of the 12 confirmed sightings, only one has been a female. All other were young males. There is a lot of difference in a resident Mt.Lion and one that may be passing through is huge. If people would quit shooting them, then the MDC could collar one and track it. But we have to protect the......I better not go there.

I was just thinking about this today. It also pertains to the guy who shot that 105lb coyote. He stated himself that 'he thought he was shooting a wolf' which would be a clear admission of intent. I was wondering, shouldn't charges be brought against him? Wolves are a federally endangered species. He admits to shooting what he felt was a wolf. seems pretty cut and dry to me.

keep in mind the fake deer that mdc uses to catch roadside poachers. it's not a 'real' deer the poachers are shooting at, it's a remote stuffed mount after all, yet they secure convictions for shooting those all the time, stating something about true intent. (not sure of the statute)
