Larry Eby Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Way to go James! Keep em coming. What was the surface temp?
Champ188 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 Surface temp was 41-44. That's a darn pretty 188, Larry.
Sore Thumbs Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Tried the same thing on Beaver saturday. Caught 1 Lm on a wiggle wart that was 2.3 lbs. Then I caught three more LM on a MegaBass jerkbait the biggest was 2.5 lbs. I had several bites on the wiggle wart but only caught one with it. Not sure if I was working it too fast or they didn't like the color. Probably working it too fast. I had better luck on the banks where the wind was blowing parallel with the bank instead of right at them. Would a spinnerbait work when it's this cold?
Members Mike Mueller Posted January 11, 2011 Members Posted January 11, 2011 Hey James, you letting Donna catch any??? Still trying to catch my first fish on 2011, but up here in Columbia most of the water is frozen. I found water that was half ice and half open and was able to get out today in the snow for about 3 hours and lost one nice one...spring can't get here soon enough! Mike
Champ188 Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 Hey Mike, I was by myself the other day. Donna was at work and she's still getting over some carpal tunnel surgery she had a few weeks ago. Procedure was very simple and low-pain, and she got immediate relief from the numbness she'd been having in her hand. The acid test will be when I go into the rod box this spring for a spinning rod and the handle hasn't been moved to the right side, which makes me nuts. LOL Afraid we're gonna be in for a long, cold winter, though. Sure looks that way so far. Sore Thumbs, I thought about picking up a spinner bait and slow-rolling it the other day and would have except I was catchin' em good on the Wart. I'd say this latest cold front is gonna put the kabosh on any kind of blade bite til spring.
