Stoneroller Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 maybe this means the MDC will actually find the time and funds to actually go out in the field (pref to the 'Ribbon' streams) and maybe actually ENFORCE some of the wildlife code. One can always hope i guess... Fish On Kayak Adventures, LLC. Supreme Commander 'The Dude' of Kayak fishing www.fishonkayakadventures.com fishonkayakadventures@yahoo.com
flytyer57 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 It has to have a drivers license # or ss #. We're required to enter one or the other. If we're selling a daily or trout stamp or both, we can get away with just the birthdate and dd#/ss#. If the person is in the system, their info comes up and prints on the license. Otherwise, just the bdate and dd#/ss#- but they do either way. That's how an agent can identify the angler. Sorry. My Non-Resident 2010 Fishing Permit from MO has neither. They may be in the system, but they are not printed on my permit(license.) There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Terry Beeson Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Some people would complain if you hung 'em with a new rope... Arkansas has had online license purchases for several years with no problems. You can buy lamination sheets at any walmart, kinkos, etc, or maybe even where you work. I've carried Arkansas license (AGFC nomenclature vs. MDC "permit") for years and had no problems. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 10, 2011 Root Admin Posted January 10, 2011 The licenses that are sold without descriptions do have driver's lisence #'s on them. I double check the number each time I issue one. I never check the ones that either I enter or are in the system, at least for the number so I've never looked... only assumed. My mistake.
flytyer57 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Some people would complain if you hung 'em with a new rope... You got that right. New rope burns more. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Gatorjet Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 After 2012 I won't have to worry about it...Not because of the Mayan calender, because I"M OLD!!! Real men go propless!
bigredbirdfan Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 How much money will this save and will they lower the price of the permit? Doubtful so what other budget area will this go to. Sounds like slight of hand to me. You are now not getting what you pay for but of course won't lower the price.

That once 18oz jar of peanut butter is now only 16oz. Looks the same size, but it's actually a slight of hand in the packaging. Ever notice how a bag of chips is less than half full? So it goes with the fishing and hunting permits you buy. Same price, less content. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Sounds like slight of hand to me. You are now not getting what you pay for but of course won't lower the price. All age are having budget problems and the MDC is no exception. I can't understand why anyone would complain about saving money on paper, given the fact we can't hunt it, fish for it or eat it! Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Same price, less content. Maybe the MDC is doing this in order to avoid raising the prices?? And really, where is the slight of hand with the "product"? Are the streams less fishable? Are the deer running into neighboring states because of the lack of yellow paper? And how about convenience? I think this is a great move, no longer do I have to go to Dicks or Wal-MArt and waste 20 minutes of my life because the vendor had no clue in what he/she is doing. I just don't see the complaint, where is the injury in fact? Or is it that we're complaining to complain? “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
