Took advantage of the warmer than average temps and tried my luck at the rock Saturday. I fished a pretty full day, starting at 8am and taking off the water at 5pm. There were several others at the Indian Creek launch that also had the same idea. I had hoped some of them might have posted and I would have added my two cents worth to theirs BUT here it goes:

I was seeing water temps from 44-46 depedning on location in the creeks or main lake channel. Water clarity is very good but I did see a little murkier water up Little Indian. I was convinced that they would eat a jerk bait and made that my main bait of the day. I did catch 6 on a McStick before lunch time with two that would have been keeper sized. Unfortunately, a switch must have been turned off after that because I couldn't get a bite after lunch. I had a couple others follow the bait to the boat and then turn away. I also tried warts, jigs, and jigging spoons when I would be at locations that would allow. Again, NOTHING after lunch. Very frustrating when I thought I had things kinda figured out prior to then, and even though I tried to duplicate the spots that produced fish I had absolutely no success.

If anyone has any ideas on what I should have done different (besides a stick of Dynamite)I'm all ears.

I think you did about the same things I would of done. I'm kinda of surprised you caught your fish before noon, rather than after. I did a little creek fishing Sat, but didn't even get a bite. The only thing I might of done differently is turn my attention to some crappie fishing if the bass were just not biting.

SAME HERE. We fished today (Sunday) with the idea that the bite would get better as the day went on because of the warming sun (fish moving up in the water column, etc.) Thinking that, didn't get to the lake until 10am and fished until about 4pm. The only thing that I can report is what is NOT working. We put in by the dam and started fishing deep docks with a jigging spoon. Graphed a lot of shad around deep docks but the bass wouldn't cooperate. Caught 3 kentucks, all under 15", and all before noon. After that, didn't even get a bite for the next 4 hours. I went on to throw a jerkbait on steep, rocky, channel swing banks and bluff ends closer to the 86 bridge, thinking I outta be able to get at least one in the afternoon. Nothing. Tried McStick and even the Pointer 100DD to get a little deeper. Mostly 5 second pauses, but for the last hour went with 15-20 second pauses between jerks. Maybe it is one of them times the bass want 40+ second pauses with the jerkbait, but I just can't do it.

On another note, found MASSIVE shad groups stacked up in the Big Cedar Cove. The seagulls tipped me off. Right out in the middle of the cove, shad are layered from the bottom to 20 ft off the bottom like I have never seen before. Dropped spoon down and after hopping it a couple times I would bring it back up with 2-3 shad stuck on my treble. Was hoping schools of whites or kentucks would be around them, but couldn't seem to locate any or bring any off the bottom. Maybe another day...

I'm pretty sure the bass just took the weekend off to watch football!

ps, water temp was 45.5 - 46 in the State Park area, and 44ish closer to the 86 bridge.

Set the hook first, ask questions later...

I won't say I am glad you had very similar results to me but it is a little easier to swallow since someone else had the exact same experience. Another thing that made my day so bad is that the last 4 I caught came on four consecutive casts without ever moving the boat. I really thought I had something going until I couldn't get another bite.

Ditto!

Fished Saturday from 11-4 around KC. Water temp 44-47.

Nothing on jerkbait or wiggle wart inside points and on chunk rock banks on channel swings.

Marking some fish in 40-45' off of bluff ends and along bluff walls. Tried spoonin em, no luck.

Dropped a grub down and quickly caught a couple shorts, and then they just quit.

Still, it was a great day to be out, and saw a couple of bald eagles on the bluffs across from Pt 7.

Fished out of Big Indian down H-Hwy Saturday. Put in at 9am and fished til 2pm. Thought I had a few things figured

out but I was wrong to stay confident on Table Rock. Between me and my dad we had two bites all day and we didn't even get to put those two bites in the boat. Fished the mouth of Little Indian Creek on some secondary points and ledges and didn't get a bite. Went to Baxter and fished the bluff ends and graphed a bunch of fish hanging around bait. Dropped a spoon down and didn't get bit. Through a scrounger through the fish and didn't get a bit. Threw a jerkbait didn't get a bite. Moved to a big deep cove with boat rails and sawed off ceders in twenty feet and had our two bites on jigs but didn't hook em. Was looking forward to the day and the fish might have been a little active but they do what they want down their. Finally quit at 2pm and decided they had lockjaw.

I will echo the sentiments fishing this weekend. My partner and I took off arount 9am Saturday morning in the KC area. Found fish stacked up around huge shad balls in 80 ft of water but could not get a bite. We tried the Spoons, Scoungers, and single tail grubs to no avail. We switched to the channel swings on the bluffs. Caught three shorts and a keeper in 30-35 ft (Oswalds Bluff). Caught 3 on spoons one on a single tail grub.

Sunday we fished for 2 hours in the am cought one short on the single tail.

Fun to be out. We also saw at least 10 eagles!

Fished Saturday from KC to Baxter and had seven with only two keepers. Best part was one was a 6.19 that ate a jig big time. Buddy caught three on jerkbait that were 2#'er and had several shorts in the creeks.
