Should be pretty interesting to see the new pocket 9mm that are being introduced at the shot show this week. Has anyone seen the new Ruger LC9, Sig Sauer P290 or Kimber Solo? I am looking for a small 9mm to carry in my front pocket since i sold my LCP to a buddy. I have looked at the Kahr PM9 and Kel Tec PF9. The Kahr PM9 is nice and small, which after all, is what I am looking for, but I dont see how it is worth $500-$650. I have read blogs online and anyone that owns one loves it, but they say you have to break them in and others say you have to be careful pulling the slide back. I looked at the PF9 and read blogs online. Most like them and some say they are junk. The new Ruger LC9 looks like a nice gun, but is is a little longer and taller than the others. The Sig Sauer P290 and Kimber Solo look like a nice guns, but the dealers around here say they wont be out for 3-6 months and they are going to be $550-$650. Has anyone seen the P290 or Solo yet? If so, thoughts? How about anyone that owns a PF9 or PM9? Pros/Cons?

a buddy of mine had the kel-tec. it's more reliable as a thrown weapon than it is as a firearm. you'd be lucky to get one shot off, best to use that shot to get yourself an upgrade if you go with the kel-tec.

Sig's design and reliability has recently become suspect in my opinion. I've fired a few new Sigs and have failed to be impressed, too many unexplained failure to feeds and not enough ingenuity. Maybe i'm spoiled but I've yet to find a pistol that outperforms or feels better than a Glock.

The Sig and LC9 are still fantasy guns, till production ramps up they are hard to find. The LC9 is just Ruger's version of the Kel Tec PF9 with a safety.

The PF9 I own is reliable and goes bang without any problems, nor have we had any problems with the dozens we have sold at the shop.

The Kahr's have the best trigger of any of the mini 9's, they shoot good after a 200 rd breakin, and are the right size.

You may want to look at a Diamond PM9 or a Walther PPS, both good carry guns if you need one.

I prefer my Colt Officers 45 except in the summer time when the PF9 comes in handy or a snub 38.

Springfield Armory make some great 1911 style EMP 9's.

People who rely on their weapons to protect their lives would never use something as unreliable and poorly made as kel-tecs are.

For deep concealment, I still don't think the new small 9s beat the LCP or P3AT size guns. My Elsie even prints a little if I wear jeans that have a smaller pocket, or are a little tight in the thigh. When clothing allows, my preference is my Springfield Armory XD40 Subcompact in an inside the waste band holster.

When I carry my LCP, Elsie rides in a DeSantis Superfly pocket holster.

Still thinking of an LC9 after they are out long enough to prove their reliability. After all, 9MMs are like Jello. You always have room for more.

jd, where is your shop? (pm if you wish)

I have a buddy that has the Keltec and it is nothing but problems.

The Walther is a very nice gun.

I carry a 642 S&W Airweight with +P ammo. No hassles.

Which Keltec? I have owned a PF9 for about 4 years without any problems and over 400 rounds. There was an issue with some of the early serial numbers and I think there was a fix for it on the Kel Tec forum.

At least nobody mentioned Taurus! :D

Taurus had a good idea with the Judge, S&W has the Governor now, even shoots 45acp. Taurus is a piece of junk, we ship many of them back to the factory and they have poor customer service.
