Sorry I haven't posted this sooner but, I have been pretty busy with all this snow. Just over 20" here.

Anyway I was speaking on the phone with one of my contacts in the MDC the other day and of course one our subjects was the recent Mt. Lion incidents. The biologist are now at work changing the current regs for Mt. Lion's and getting them in line with the bear regs. That should make it much easier to prosecute and get a conviction.

It was also stated that we need to send an email to Rob Ziehmer the MDC director. We need to make him aware of our dissatisfaction in the handling of these two matters. I would also stress a little professionalism when corresponding. Civil discussion will get us much further than some of the post I have seen lately.

I sent in a couple of emails expressing dissatisfaction on how the current rules justify killings of mountain lions too easily. The guy said that they were going to have some sort of meeting and that he would bring up my points. I have no clue if that was a statement he made just to get me off of his back or what. Hopefully something changes because the current regs. on this issue are not cutting it.

Good to know. Thanks Chief. I think I'll put something in an e-mail.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

I'm not a resident but I spend fishing dollars in Missouri. I'd sign. Get a biologist who specializes in this if you can or a few "names" (especially sporting organization presidents) at the top of the list and as many members as possible to send in letters.

Predator management is as hard as it gets. It sounds like they're taking appropriate steps.

That's good to hear Chief- as I posted earlier, I assumed they were taking their time and exploring all avenues before they gave a knee-jerk reaction to a few unhappy people. I'm glad to hear they're at least making some progress and weighing their options and developing a plan to implement. I'll be curious as to what their final decision may be.....

You are going to believe anything that the MDC tells you? These are the folks who returned River Otters to the big Piney river and then treated us, who thought it might not be a good idea to put a preadator which had been gone from the river for how many generations into a smallmouth stream,as though we were retarded. We were told we couldn't know anything about this because we were not professional wildlife managers. well they pissed me of enough that I got ahold of Tim Renken at the Post Dipatch and he wrote a few articles about it and then finally years later we find out we were right. Did the public ever get an apology? Now that I went on record that bringing Elk "back" to southeast Missouri might not be the best use of our resources once again I don't know what I am talking about. I don't care what they decide about the Lions but I believe what ever they do will be a political decision science and truth will have nothing to do with it. So go ahead and rip me if you want, I could be wrong.
