They aren't like every other animal. They have little to no choice about leaving the area where they are born, daddy runs them off. It's ridiculas to think they sit around wondering where the females are, they're animals with different instincts.

I too don't see any conflict with the MDC's belief that there is no breeding population. When females and kittens show up, then I will believe it if they don't acknowledge.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Maybe it's the scientist in me, but:

'No evidence of breeding population' <> 'No breeding population'

OK for those of you who might be a little slow and/or chemically imbalanced, the fact that this is the 4th confirmed sighting inside of a few months, and considering how far away from known breeding populations some of them have been, I stated that I'm starting to see holes in MDC's mantra of no breeding populations in Missouri. Those are the facts, capped with a statement that is clearly my opinion. Is that clearer for you or do I need to draw some pictures?

What is clear is that you need to do some research on the subject. It is very appearant that you know very little about the habits of Mt. Lion's. I would draw a picture for you but all I can make is stick kitty's.

it's funny how every single post I see from you offers nothing but critism of others. Tell me this, how many years of higher education do you have? what degree do you have? I have a B.S. in Zoology, that's the study of animals, NOT the study of zoological parks as you probably think it is. So before you hop on your little high horse and try to get all psuedo-intellectual, you better just check your facts. We've had more sightings in the past 3 months than some of the states that have established breeding populations have in a year long period. Google it if you want to check those facts.

bottom line, if you are going to get on here and tell me to produce facts for my opinions, which i clearly did by posting MDC's sightings, you'd better have something worthwhile to add to the conversation other than just being socially inept.

I can not and will not produce facts that are not there. You continue to claim that you are posting facts but, you have not produced one FACT.

And really, the personal attacks do not make your argument any stronger. But if you believe it helps, then by all means continue.

Care to site your sources?

Continuing under the assumption that you will:

If it's common knowlegde, and there is a known breeding population in the area, enough for hunting seasons even, why would anyone bother reporting sightings? Do you call MDC every time you see a coyote or deer? Also, what about all the tags that are filled in these other states?

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

Many states with breeding populations don't report every sighting, and many states with breeding populations have human populations which are a fraction of Missouri's. Fewer people= fewer sightings.

MDC isn't saying there are no mountain lions in Missouri- there obviously are. They're just saying they haven't found evidence of a breeding population. There's no distortion there- they haven't found cubs, haven't found breeding females, haven't seen evidence of territories being established.

Little in the way of sightings or signs- when you think about the thousands of folks who have been out in the woods since November, the untold hours of sitting in tree stands and game-camera footage...4 sightings stacked against all those hours of observation is an infinitesimally percentage.

i'm going to clarify one last time for those who still dont get it. The FACTS are in the articles that MDC releases and I have reposted. It's my opinion that MDC needs to do a bit more data collecting before trying to sell everyone on their assumption that we dont' have breeding populations based on the fact that nobody has called up with a litter of mt lion kittens under their shed.

not that I or anyone else on here should have to justify, or repeatedly point out their opinion to anyone else.

and cgb, you clearly have no idea what a personal attack is. Troll someone else's posts with your nonsense. you have yet to add a single useful tidbit to what I posted other than to bash my opinion.
