Trout Commander Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Wow, very nice fish and picture. Thanks for sharing. Any weight/length measurements or estimates? I imagine it was probably pretty heave for its size, judging by it's diet. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. Greasy B Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Thanks, I figured it to be about 24 inches when I first hooked into it, when I got it into the net I was thinking 22 inches, then I unhooked it and held briefly for a picture it was a cool 20”. I’m glad I didn’t measure it, hell it could of have been 18 inches. I would think hold over browns are pretty scarce, this fish was a nice way to break the winter shack nasties. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
mic Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 The brown trout with a mouth full. Sweet, I'm headed down to Bennett for a week in May. I'm going out into the river for the first time. Looking forward to it.
FishinCricket Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I'm yet to catch my first Niangua Brown...Do pretty good on the rainbows...took a few trips to figure some of that out. Im due for a Brown. I hear this more and more frequently nowadays... Browns used tO be relatively commonplace down around NRO and Barclay... cricket.c21.com
dennis boatman Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 3 trout today at bennett access. Water was up some and made wading a little dicey at times. Thought water was to high to go down to the island, so fished between the first access and boat ramp. Waded down the first time and caught nothing, and the second time through caught 3. All caught on what I call a Guinea Jig, 1/100 ounce i believe. Fun day. A strike indicator is just a bobber...
