Idylwilde Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I for one appreciate the Rangers and conservation for the turn out for a event like this! I have seen post like this on the Missouri Department Of Natural Resources page and Just wondering if it is just a grudge against the Rangers that have bled on to here? But Thank you Rangers and Agents for what you do to make our sport safer and more family friendly! Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.
FishinCricket Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 My tag from yesterday was #3668, I saw a kids tag yesterday that was #281... Just a point of fact.... (I remember years with a 5-10k opening day!) cricket.c21.com
Idylwilde Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 How many Rangers will the parks have this year during opening day? Do we really need 10-15 Rangers plus conservation, water patrol and all the office staff to be there? It makes no sense for them to spend the hotel, fuel and food cost for them to watch 10,000 people. I know city cops don't have that good of ratio for police to citizens. Are we all criminals that needs to be watched??? When your there go to the Captain or Sgt and thank them for wasting our tax money instead of fixing the streams and park!!!! Who is going to post how many rangers they saw this time around. I say at least 10 during the day??? By the way I saw only 4 Rangers at Montauk and 3 Agents. Take a Child Fishing they are the future of the sport.

(I remember years with a 5-10k opening day!) 5-10K???? That is a huge variance there Cricket. The state trout parks combined may only have 10K total on the opener. I have been fishing openers for quite some time and I have never seen it more crowded than it was about 4-5 years ago when it was on a Saturday and it was about 60 degrees. There was close to 4k tags sold that day. 10K would be a huge stretch there bud. Just sayin.

In which case it still means the trout park crowds are down quite a bit... cricket.c21.com

Ill Trout Bum Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 By the way I saw only 4 Rangers at Montauk and 3 Agents. I happened to see 6 agents opening day at Montauk. They were busting one of our neighbors for what they described as " multiple infractions". One of them came over and talked to us and mentioned they had written more tickets this year for the opener than they had in a long time. Scott

I just happen to read in the paper today, in a totally unrelated story, that the state of Missouri averages 1 officer for every 1000 citizens. Pretty much inline with your complaint. ozark trout fisher Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I happened to see 6 agents opening day at Montauk. They were busting one of our neighbors for what they described as " multiple infractions". Multiple infractions...LOL. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen that at Montauk, especially at the good old social hole. There is someone committing "multiple infractions" pretty much all the time there. Ranger: Are you are aware that you're committing multiple infractions right now? Fisherman: What in tarnation is an infraction? And I'm not committing to anything. I'm just loadin' up the freezer for me and my buddies. Ranger: What I mean is that if you snag trout, start fishing an hour before the buzzer, net broodstock out of the hatchery, use Powerbait in the fly fishing only area, and keep five limits, then you're probably going to be in trouble. Fisherman: I still don't understand. Ranger: What I mean is, we're going to have to take your fishing license away for awhile. Fisherman: Good luck with that. I haven't bought one in eight years.
