Members Fishin Fanatic Posted March 9, 2011 Members Posted March 9, 2011 Hey all, I'm new to this forum...I was just wondering what where some of your favorite white bass lures for late March when the whites are running. I've had some success on just about everything including rooster tails, crankbaits, road runners, etc..
Predator1 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 You are on the right path. I use rooster tails, swimming minnows, maribou jigs, little crank-baits...once they start moving up the river to spawn the get hungry and you will catch fish hard for about 3 weeks on all that you are already using. My favorite colors are white w/red...or just white. Purple swimming minnows work great..Maribou Jigs in white, grey, olive yellow. These white bass will hit them all. Good luck to you they will get real good here in a week or two.
Members Fishin Fanatic Posted March 9, 2011 Author Members Posted March 9, 2011 Thanks, glad to hear I've at least been on the right track. I'm planning on coming down there March 25-28th so hopefully I'll hit them at the right time this year.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Swimming minnows and a smoke or pearl grub will catch any fish that is in this lake, whites included. Don't count out a spoon either, not just the 1/2oz white jig spoon, but something along the Cleo line.

Last spring we were catching them on a Scrounger 1/4 ounce jig head with a twin tail white trailer and a whte chatterbait with the same trailer. I've caught some big whites on spinner baits and Little George tail spinners in the past also.
gitnby Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 If they're bustin on top, almost anything will get em. I really like the Norman Top Dollar! Seems like just the right size? I've caught a bunch on a jointed Redfin, and sometimes any of the 3 black bass species will come up and get it.
Members Fishin Fanatic Posted March 28, 2011 Author Members Posted March 28, 2011 Well I finally made the 5 hour trip down to table rock this past weekend. A buddy and I fished up around Eagle Rock hoping to lay into some white bass, but the weather made it tough to find them in any great numbers. However, we did get into some nice spotted bass; including this chunky ol' gal I caught on a lucky craft pointer 100 off of a secondary point. This was by far the biggest spot I have ever caught.
abkeenan Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Wow, that might be the fattest fish I have ever seen! Look at that gut! Awesome fish! What did she weigh?
dtrs5kprs Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 The big mama K's always look painful. You would almost think some sort of survival instinct would override the spring feeding instinct when they are that full.
