flytyer57 Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I took a drive down to the Norfork dam earlier today just to see what was happening there. The parking lot was full. I seen cars/trucks from Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Wiscnonsin and a few other states. Yes sir, it's definitly time for the Sowbug Roundup here in Mountain Home. Forget about trying to fish below the dams for a while unless you like fishing shoulder to shoulder. I sat down there for about a half hour and didn't see one person catch a fish. Although the fish were rising 5 feet from where people were standing, they had to cast all the way across the river. It's this time of year that makes me sick to think about wanting to go trout fishing. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Ham Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I'm willing to share water with folks willing to come spend their hard earned dollars in our local economy. Surely, such a dedicated and experienced fly fishing angler such as yourself can hit some areas of the White that won't be wrapped up with folks from out of town. If need be, you can kayak away from a access point and fish riffles that rarely see a fly. We have the rivers all year. Just sayin. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. If'n ya want to hit the Norfork or the White, and you got a yak or pontoon or something, I'd be more than happy to shuttle with ya to get away from the crowds. But my knees won't allow me to wade far enough from the access to get away from the masses. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
