Eh, kinda slow. Below Baptist gave up a few on streamers early, one good one about 18". Got skunked at Tan Vat up to the rock garden. Surprisingly I didn't see many fish rising with all the bugs around, and I tried every stage of the cycle, both midge and caddis, with no takers. Went slumming in the park to finish the day and caught a dozen in a couple hours on fetal emergers. No browns today.

Excellent. I went down two weekends ago and managed one decent brown while the water was up, but there was practically nothing going on up top.

Been waiting for the caddis to get crankin'...

The caddis and midges were so thick on the Current today I was choking on them. They started hatching pretty early morning, too. Sign of the season turning...finally. Get your a$ down there and do some fishing, screw the crowds.

Taneycomo and the White are two totally different types of water. There is a whole lot more fishable water on the White for people to spread out.

And yes......Caddi on the White are well worth the drive.

Thanks guys. Good to know on both posts. After looking at a great map that FT57 posted on another thread it does look like the White does have exponentially more wadable area. Should have known that with Taney being a lake after all.

If I had the full weekend I would be down there without hesitation. Since I only have Saturday I can't bring myself to give up 5 plus hours round trip to driving. Looks like Saturday will be Taney ditchpigs and maybe some white bass action on the James.

I hope to make it down to the White for the whole weekend next weekend. How long does the more prolific part of the hatch usually last? I am sure it is weather Dependant but have no clue beyond that...

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

The White is a big river and is completely different then Taney like Zach said. Taney is a ditch and the White is a great place. Plenty of river to find your own water away from the crowds if you want. Often time the trophy water of the Current can feel more crowded then the White, even on the busiest of weekends. I echo the thoughts on the Caddis Hatch at the Current. I was down there last weekend and saw the heaviest hatches I have ever seen down there.

Yes, the weekend before last was incredible for the brother and I. The blog was dead right about fish stacked up in current seams but if a person wasn't paying attention you could pass em up without realizing what was happening.

Fished the White with Zack and others on Friday and Saturday, I personally caught 57 between the two days. Caddis were hatching both days, green soft hackles were key.

Good deal, what size soft hackles are you guys fishing? New to the NWA area, may have to check this out this weekend.

We threw 14's. I simple green thread body, hurl thorax and hen hackle patten. I did throw a few other soft hackles and did just about as well. Success had more to do with locating feeding lanes than pattern.

Major hatch activity for me this weekend. Fished at the narrows, tucker shoal and wildcat over the weekend.

Best day was Saturday. I actually started off that day with a soft hackle and only got one fish in about 20 or 30 minutes. Switched to a bright green bodied elk hair caddis dry with a green bead head caddis pupae dropper and tore them up for the next several hours. Was doing well enough on the Elk hair that I eventually got rid of the dropper and kept catching fish every few casts on the dry. Was an awesome day.

I am not sure why they weren't hitting the soft hackle well for me.
