dtrs5kprs Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Bill referenced this bait in a recent post. Looks like it is the same as the old BPS finesse incredible craw, but different colors. Don't have one of the chomps in hand to compare, but here are the 2 links: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44635____SearchResults http://www.chompers.com/products.asp?cat=50 Looks like the good folks at Chompers have a few better colors in that bait and in the baby wild hawg, which also matches a BPS bait. The little hawg creature is a lot smaller than it looks. The incredible craw size has been good to me tx rigged on bed fish and around docks, and in small northern MO lakes. And I am with Bill...GYCB has hit my maximum price points and then some. Except for the GYCB single tails in plain smoke, my grub boxes are turning Chompers pink. $7.50+ for a bag of ten senkos? Don't wish them any ill, but I hope the market provides a correction.

You know I like the texture of the baits the salt and the color and quality of the thin plastic in the pincers and twin tails, but come on! With tax, these things are .80 per bait. And as Buster puts it, you can catch a 1/4 of a fish on each one. They just tear to pieces, in absolutely no time. I have used as many as 4 bags on a guide trip. Very, very seldom can you catch more than 1 fish on a GYCB, without it completely comming to pieces. Take a look at the color patterns and the Lamenents of the Baby Craw Hawg, and you will be on board. This is just about as fine a trailer as you can get outside the real deal. It will also come apart, but it takes more than 1 fish, and a dozen blue gill pecks to do it. Those stupid Yamammoto baits in Gill season are without pincers after about a dozen throws. I'm laughing at myself. I cannot tell you the number of times I have put a new one on and the very next cast, had a gill chew off the pincer. Grrrrr! I hate Gills. If you don't see the oolors you want or you need some quick, call Sonny or Ed at Chompers and have them send you some. Probably should keep my mouth shut on these, but they are just that good. Great guys that know Table Rock, front to back. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
dtrs5kprs Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 They nearly lost me years ago with their cut tail worm. Seriously...a curl tail worm with half the tail cut like it got caught in a stowaway lid. Takes some rocks to try and sell that one. And the senko...if you have any time, the $ for a good aluminum mold, and any skill, you can make those for next to nothing. Chompers colors are certainly more "Ozark-y" than the BPS version. BPS used to have it in smoke/purple, may yet, was a good color. Used to run into them once in a while in non stock colors at the outlet store in Springfield and would load up on them. Guarantee the chomps will taste better. Seeing a lot of plastic baits from different companies that are in fact the same bait. Several companies are selling the craw/chunk that BPS calls the Speed-O (see it as KISS Craw, among others).
