Members Spinfisher Posted March 25, 2011 Members Posted March 25, 2011 I'm trying to decide between a trip to Table Rock or Kentucky lake in late April for some bass fishing with my son. He's 17 and fished a handful of times at a few other spots for bass and trout. Main objective is to have fun and catch and release a lot of fish rather than to hunt for lunkers. I gather that May would be better but I just don't have a window of opportunity open then. Any advice? Thanks!
aftersh0ck Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 love both, ky you dont have to fish as deep and use as light line, then again you get the lovely rollers from the barge traffic.
Smalliebigs Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 love both, ky you dont have to fish as deep and use as light line, then again you get the lovely rollers from the barge traffic. You got that right B, years back I fell asleep in my boat in the channel @ Kentucky fishing for some Blues and was woke up by a barge spotlight about 200 yards out comming right at me.......lol....what a dumbass I can be. B is right you will need the right boat for Kentucky....I love them both....something about both lakes always draws me back. Tablerock//// better scenery++++ harder to be sucessful if you ask me-------- Kentucky//// not as pretty but still the LBL side of the lake is friggin really cool++++++ easier to be sucessful if you ask me.......but much bigger than T Rock.....much bigger need the right boat if you ask me
vacation Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I'm biased, but Table Rock in Late April is awesome...throw a grub, fish dr., better yet, texas rig a brush hog, 10" worm then, get up early and throw a spook and late evening a spook, then fish at night and throw a 10" worm or black spinner bait... Dude, now I'm excited to fish then too...I would find it hard to believe a novice on table rock couldnt have a trip of a lifetime late april on 'the rock"...
Members Spinfisher Posted March 26, 2011 Author Members Posted March 26, 2011 Thanks to all for the feedback. Doesn't sound like either place would be a bad choice at that time of year. We'll need to hit one of the two this spring and maybe the other in the fall.
