Andrew324 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I am looking to buy a 3wt rod, preferably a 7-8ft rod. What should I look for in a good 3wt? Any favorites or suggestions? Looking to get this to fish small streams. Thanks! Andrew Nelson Outdoor Adventures Graduate Assistant Campus Recreation Missouri State University
Kyle Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 TFO Can't go wrong with anything they have. I have a finesse, it has a slower action, but works well. Plus they are tough, I caught about an 8 pound carp on mine. Kyle

Looking to get this to fish small streams. Thanks! I just bought a custom three weight from an OAF member, Mark from RDP flyrods. I'm still breaking it in, but the workmanship was first rate and the price is very competitive. When I say breaking it in, I've only had it out at Blue Springs Creek so haven't really pushed full cast lengths. It did work great for short side arm and roll casts on little water. His customer service is first rate also. http://www.rdpflyrods.com/
Gavin Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Lots of good rods out there...3wts arent built for long distance casting so I'd cast a couple and see which one work best in the 15-30' range..Roll cast it and over overhead cast it at some targets and buy the one you like best. Cheers.
