Justin Spencer Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Getting the new fly shop set up at our campstore and the other morning was in there working when I heard my name being yelled from down by the river. I realized it was my friend Chris who had been here fishing for a week during spring break. He was leaving to head back to school this day after a successful week of fishing the NFoW. I quickly ran to the river's edge to see what the commotion was all about, and Chris was hooked up to a big brown that he had been fighting for a few minutes. I grabbed a camera from him, and after a few more minutes he brought up a big fat brown that he had caught on a prince nymph. After taking a few pictures the fish was released unharmed and Chris ended his trip with the best fish of the week on his last cast. The last few weeks have produced lots of 18" plus fish right here on our property with several going over 20". We didn't put a tape to this fish but it was easily between 22 and 24 inches. Trout Commander Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Nice fish! Thanks for sharing. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
sean c Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Justin my buddy caught this right in front of your ramp Friday the 1st. It's bait compared to the fish Chris caught but we were happy. Our two biggest fish came off of the Sunburst property this weekend. I'm not sure what your feeding these big boys but keep up the good work!
Justin Spencer Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 WTF, I fish the ramp every other day just because of the pictures I keep seeing and couldn't catch a buzz with a bottle of Jack in that spot. That's no bait in any water, great fish! We've been blessed with big fish here this year, but if it wasn't for everyone releasing and handling them carefully they wouldn't be here. Thanks, and keep up the pictures coming. Sounds like the rod fee might be increasing with every good report!
