Am almost out of Carbon Pro. Need suggestions for replacement, was told to stay away from AbrazX by a Seaguar staffer. Have not tried the Red Label yet, sort of hurts my confidence to switch. Vicious does not inspire my confidence. Looking at Sunline.

Looking especially at 10 and 15 test, have a couple 1000yd spools of 6 and 8 left of the original.

Take a look at Berkley 100% fluorocarbon. Its the best that I have used.Try a a small filler spool and see how you like it.I think you will be happy with it.

What's the reason he told you to avoid abrazX? I think Tatsu from Seagaur is supposed to be their new best.

Said there were problems with the smaller tests on the abrazX. Basically, he described the d/c of Carbon Pro as removal of the middle of the road do it all line. There would Tatsu at the top, AbrazX for flipping, InvizX that is better on spinning but may fail in cover, then Red Label as entry level.

I have spooled some Red Label but have not fished it yet. Sort of making the assumption that Seguar's low end is still better than some of the other brands, but it definitely does not feel or handle like CP. Have been using Carbon Pro since 2001, 6# and 8# for most spin apps, 10#-20# for casting, except TW / blades / cranks.

My occasional experiences with other fc's have always been when they were all I could find in a shop. Did not like the Triple Fish. P-Line straight fc is ok, but not quite Seaguar. The various fluoro coated lines have been snappers for me. Have not tried the Berkley, but everything I hear is positive. Only concerns are due to Berkley's track record with lines that are not XT, XL, or Big Game. As with the P-Line, it would be nice if they had a spool size between 200 and 2000 yds.

I probably avoid, and might be able to continue avoiding, some of the FC issues people complain about due to frequent changes, lots of line dope. Have read some complaints regarding nicks and breakage and had to wonder why they did not retie 20 minutes earlier.

I'd at least give the 15 lb test InvizX a try if you don't want to use Abrazx. And if you are thinking of fishing really heavy cover, why not use 20 lb if you are worried about breakages.

I can't tell the difference between Red label and lines like Berkley Vanish.

Picked up 10# and 15# InvizX today to try, and some Red Label. Sorry to hear it is as bad as Vanish. Not as worried about cover like wood, more about rocks when using it for dragging a rig and a FB jig, maybe some use flipping spoons in docks. Have to say Carbon Pro proved itself time and again putting jigs and shakeys into and out of deep cedars, jigs and spoons in docks, dragging big and finesse rigs. About the only thing it didn't do well was crank for me (besides TW, and other line sink areas of trouble).

Also grabbed some XPS. Line to line that is the one that feels most like the old CP to me. Will find out, hopefully in a good way. Fiddled with some of the Trilene 100% but was afraid I would like it and have to start buying the 2000 yd spools at upwards of $150.

Let us know what you think of the XPS. I'm curious how it compares to InvizX.

You may like the Red Label more than I did. to me it just feels like a cheaper FC, which I guess it is. I haven't had much problems with line breaks with it, its too stiff, and doesn't cast as well as I would like. You may like it for certain applications you mentioned above.

The XPS just "feels" like the old CP, even looks ugly on the spool the way CP did when it first came out. All of that line fished fine for me then, not sure what the current urge to have it level-wound, never crossed over, etc., is about. Might come that way from the factory, but it won't stay like that after the first 15 minutes on the lake.

The InvizX feels good, but it feels softer than what I am used to. Kind of like the difference between XL and XT Trilene. Red Label is a little cheap feeling...stiffer, little more stretch. Spooled some anyway since I had it, hope it holds up. Also going to run some lighter braid for grubs and shakeys, with and without an FC leader. Have heard you need the leader for visibility, but don't like the idea of an extra knot. Holding the braid up against any broken background it just disappears. This is Sufix in 10# and Power Pro in 8# and 10#, diameters under 6# equivalent. If the braid works the FC will not be as big of a deal.

***Am a little concerned about how much line is actually on Seaguar small spools. Spooling 10# and 15# on old green Curados around 2/3 full of mono backing ate up most of the spools. Diameter of the Seaguar is not so small and I know I didn't just wind 200 yds of line on a reel that wouldn't hold 200yds. Don't mind spending $$$, but would like to get all I paid for.

They had a close out on Carbon Pro at BPS the other day and I bought $100 worth
