A question for the boaters - does anyone have a navionics chip in their GPS that has Taneycomo included in it? I've got a Humminbird unit that came with navionics pre-loaded but when I'm on Taneycomo it looks like I'm boating across dry land. I realize it's not needed for navigating (kind of hard to get lost on Taney) but it would be nice to see the creeks and bends to know how far away things are for someone like me who only gets on the lake once or twice a year. I'm guessing the pre-loaded maps I've got are the most basic ones and maybe the premium series might have Taneycomo included?

I don't think there's even a topo map of Taney... good luck finding one.

navionics did a high def scan of taney, but i doubt it includes the upper end. My guess is whomever owns that big boat at the landing paid for a high def scan of the lake. in other maps ive seen navionics doesnt pay much attention to the one-ten foot range.

I doubt I'd fork over the $100+ for a new chip anyway even if it was on there. I'll just have to use the maps I've got including the nice ones you've put out here. We're heading down for a week at the end of the month, we always stay at Rockaway Beach with our 2 beagles but I'm sure we'll make our way up to the more crowded end of the lake a few times, hope to see some of you out there. Thanks to all for the great info shared on this web site.

I have a 2010 navionics south prem in my humminbird. It does not actually list Taney, but when I move the cursor between Table Rock and Bull Shoals it is there, appears to have depth contours of about 10', along with islands sand bars etc. It shows the cooper creek boat ramp and Lillys Landing Resort so it can not be all bad... I am not a great fan of the maps on LCDs but its as good as any, and I like being able to mark small spots etc. Get someone to loan you one and take a look. If I am around will be glad to show you or let you see it. It was $80 something on Amazon including shipping, I think it came from iboats?

Thanks for the offer Griz, if you'll be around between 4/27 and 5/4 let me know what areas of the lake you hang out in and what kind of boat you've got. I'd love to get a look at the map before buying it. I looked and did find it somewhere online for $85 + shipping so I might fork over the bucks if I'm convinced after looking at it. There's a bunch of reviews on Bass Pro's online site and about half of them say they did not get what they wanted out of it. It's also scary because once you open it you can't return it (I guess you could make a copy of it with your computer so I can't say I blame them). I'll be in a black & white Crestliner with my wife & 2 dogs if you spot us. Thanks again, Dave
