Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 14, 2011 Root Admin Share Posted April 14, 2011 Galena isn't that far but I think they go up to Hootentown... anyone?
duckydoty
All depends on water levels. Most of them usually spawn within the 1st 3 shoals up from the lake. A couple of years ago, when we had all the floods, they went way up to find the shoals. I've heard people catching them where Wilson's Creek dumps in the Jame's. That's pretty far up. RSBreth
All the fish of one species won't do the exact same thing - I've caught them up to Hootentown or so most years - even after the "run" is over a while. Flood years? Yeah, somewhere near Springfield's southwest city limits.
Flysmallie
I've caught them up to Hootentown or so most years - even after the "run" is over a while. The past couple of years I have caught quite a few between Hooten and Shelvin Rock in the middle of the summer. Always smaller fish. I guess they don't all make it back down to the lake. Micheal Kyle
Like every one has said it all depends on water flow and levels. I have caught some good whites all the way up by the power plant in Springfield in flood years. But a really good spot for me when the action slows down in the galena area is at the mouth of the Finnely where it meets the James. I have caught quite a few whites there. If the river comes way up with the rain we got last night it might just be a good spot in a week. I would also be looking at flat creek that is a great creek too. duckydoty
I was listening to a Big Smith CD yesterday and it got me to wonderin...so I headed over to Bull Creek and caught some nice ones up by Big Rock. They were taking just about everything I threw at them on the wrong side of the Christian County Line. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at..
