Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 We would be better off trying to find Isringhausen.... or Dave Veres... man I despise closers with issues. Case in point.. tonight's game. If Berkman hadnt eaten his Wheaties and gone all Superman today this would have been another loss by committee. but hey - a wins a win.. right ? BredMan Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 My daughter is a college softball coach and she gets very upset when her pitchers blow a lead. I have to remind her that it happens in the majors too. Cards should be OK if they can resolve the closer issue and avoid any major injuries. Berkman is playing like a mad man right now and I hope he can keep that pace all year without injury. Many fans here were really skeptical about that deal.
stlfisher Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Here's a list of managers with the highest winning percentages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_managers_by_wins Not "wins", mind you. Winning percentage. He's awful----and everyone looks at his wins vs win %, which is more indicative of a good manager. I cannot stand him. Now I'm mad again....thanks stlfisher. Haha. Didn't mean to get ya riled up! I would have thought his winning percentage would be higher than it is. He is controversial know doubt about that. He needs to stop the undying loyalty to aging veterans. Berkmann is raking right now.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 I sure hope the guys can help Carp get his 1st win of the season today. I grew up watching TBS and the Braves every chance I could.. just like WGN and the Cubs day games.. but I am Cardinals fan thru and thru so I hope we clobber them. Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 Four in a row.... and 8 of our last 10... not looking too shabby! And the Cardinals have scored more runs than any team in the league to this point! let's hope they keep it up..... EDIT - 5 in a row.. GO CARDS! 5/1/11 Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Daniel who ??? Descalso's homer in the 7th inning...awesome.. and Sanchez.. what a stud! Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 6,6 tie in the 9th. Florida's been tough to beat this year. EDIT yuck.. now it is 8-6 after Stanton's blast. Sanchez's run couldn't have lasted forever. and we lost Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
stlfisher Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 What an ugly game last night for the Cards...kinda surprised they were even in it at the end, but very frustrated with another late inning loss. Yadi's error was a killer. Anyone else think Pujol's contract situation is affecting his play? Looks to me like he is trying to justify asking for $300 million on each swing. Kind of ironic in away. He needs to get going though.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 What on earth is the media doing by pushing this Pujols / Chicago attachment ??? I missed the first 2 innings of this rubber game, but I see we are up 5-0 and that's a good thing to me.
