Economics...most illegal immigrants actual enter legally. They simply don't leave for whatever reason...money, love, fear, stupidity. It cost to much to run all of them down, so they are deported when they break the law and enter the system. The real problem is most of them are living productive law abiding lives and don't get caught. This system is the same in all the developed countries I have lived or visited.

So do you think amnesty is the right answer? What is youre methodoligy as far as a solution?I know that 15 million people can't be swooped up, but by the same token, a blindeye can't ignore this and that goes back to my first point where we have been driven down a wrong path by our elected officials for decades. And I'll be honest, most things can be solved but on this issue, I just don't know how it is going to play out...

Wayne; "Can you provide proof positive that all your forefathers served this country to deny the rights of others to enter this country? YES"

You are of course absolutely sure of yourself here? Your forefathers would have denied the rights of others to enter this country when they themselves were not born here?

Quite a few of my ancestors were veterans, including the Revolution. Yes I have done the work establishing my ancestry. I'm a veteran myself.

As to your, "Deny the rights of other to enter this country", I assume that you mean illegal entry. We have had a system for entering legally and becoming a citizen for many decades

From your comments can I assume you would have no problem with someone you don't know entering your house through the back door, eating you food, using your meds, sending you their medical bills, even if they came to do you harm??

Do you think our immigration laws are a waste of time and we should turn our backs to the borders? It certainly sounds like it.

Actually, this topic was not about immigration laws, it was about the insaneness of killing people because they were using the waters of the streams belonging to the State of MO for recreational purposes.

It just got robbed by those who want to point out that their political beliefs are more important than the life of someone else.

Better call the cops and file a report !!!

On a brighter note, according to the usgs gauges, looks like both the upper Boubeusse and Maries will be fishable again in a few days, yea !!!!!

Troutfiend,

Thank you very much, for bringing that point out. A point which is obvious to most people who have actually read the Constitution rather than misquote it.

P -- Most of your "forefathers" did not "fight" at all, but sent other, poor, iliterate illegal immigrants to fight for this country.

Nonsense, How would you define an illegal immigrant in 1776? While it's true that the majority of the troops in the trenches were either poor, indentured or small land owners, the higher classes were involved also. Most of them financed troops and provided sons to act as officers.

Can you quote the English law that made all of them illegal?

I don't think it is the "right" answer, but it is the only one that is realistic, and there is a precedent for it. If you forced my hand, I would have a tiered approached based on how long one had been here, how productive one is, how one entered, and relationships with citizens. I wouldn't make them "go back" as most couldn't afford it.

I meant exactly what was written.

We have had immigration laws in this country since 1790.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

No, I'm not going to whine to Phil to close the thread as some have done in the recent past.

The diffrence flytyer is this, The Republican ( or Libetarian,Dem,green party member, etc..) is an American, and thus by vitue of that fact, has constituional rights and due process. There is a way again, to legaly come to this nation, and the convicted party did not take that path, which makes this even more of a tragedy. Also, the fact that an individual was granted rights that should only be granted to a LEGAL citizen is IMO, just plane scarry and should alarm any level thinking person. I can't help but think that my forefathers who fought so valiently for this country, are rolling in their graves when it comes to these sort of issues. Sad !

Then again maybe not.

Part of being an American in my humble opinion is wanting every person in the world to be afforded the freedoms and rights I enjoy. I just don't believe any person has no right to due process every person has that right. It is what makes this country different from the rest. This person committed a crime and was convicted by the laws of this nation. He will now pay the price for those crimes.

The folks who were hiking and crossed into Iran are the perfect example. They deserve due process but that is not the way in Iran. So they sit in prison for crossing an invisible line. I suppose they deserve it if they were not smart enough to know better. (sarcasm fully intended)

I am one of those who thinks opportunity should exist for everyone. I was lucky enough to be born in this nation. I will never take that for granted. I have no idea what its like to be from another place that does not afford me the opportunity I have in this country. For me that is what our forefathers had figured out. This nation was built by rejects, religious lunatics, and opportunist or at least that what they were called by their country men who said farewell get out of our country. Turns out those rejects, lunatics and opportunist found a way to coexist and create the basis for a super power. Today many folks in this country seem to think or take what we have for granted. They make everything about themselves and their views and perceptions. I don"t understand how or why anyone would want to take opportunity away from anyone. If someone carries their part of the load then lets get the job done. The best employees I have had are the ones who have gone on to other endevors. The ones who took the risk when the opportunity arose to move up and forward. I cant be mad at them because that is exactly what I did to get to where I am. I wish they were still around my life would be a lot easier.

If this nation were as backward as Mexico and Canada was like the US you can bet I would be trying to figure out how to get there to better my life.

I think this is one of the most beautifully concise expressions I have laid my eyes on in a long time. I couldn't object to anything you said in this. Not that my opinion is worth much, but this is a great, great view of rights, and what America is.
