techo Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Apparently Aunt's is closed for the rest of summer. Sorry guys I know Mill Creek is open. Haven't been to Aunt's yet and hoping to hear a real answer from someone in the know too! Tim Carpenter
dtrs5kprs Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Define open. Are we talking it's open and functional, or just able to get in from the road or parking lot? If the latter, I understood people were using Mill as early as Friday last week, but under somewhat primitive conditions.
techo Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Sorry, I got the info second hand from a friend that said they put in at Mill Creek. I didn't ask anything about if it was from the ramp or some other spot. I would have thought it would have been part of the story. I texted, but he hasn't replied yet. Tim Carpenter

Tim, my info on Mill was second hand also. I was more curious what folks were considering open and functional. I chose the known quantity and put my barge in on the road going down to Schooner Creek's ramp. At least I knew where most of the trees were and did not have any big drop offs to consider. Shallow grade made for wet feet and knee deep water getting into the boat from the truck. Was a little concerned we might run out of road before it quit raining though. My concern on parking lot and road launching is you had better remember what was under the water there so as not to back into, or worse, off of something. I've done it here, on the Mississippi up in IA and WI, and over the sides of ditches at the ramp in the back of Tebo at Truman. Except for the places I really knew well it always added something to the pucker factor.

Members skipjack Posted May 5, 2011 Author Members Posted May 5, 2011 Thats why this is the best fishing forum out there, thanks fellas. I can't wait to get down there next week, I probably won't go to Aunts because Techo always says there's nothing in that creek.
