Does the Core Engineers have a projected draw down from the high levels with fair weather? How soon? How much? How fast? Considering whether to fish at Table Rock next week or go to Truman.

Does the Core plan on dropping lake levels and how much will it go down under fair weather (no rain)? Thanks for your help. Kristine

And may I say, " AS USUAL NOT EVEN CLOSE TO ACCUTATE " !!!!!!!

But what would you expect from a government organization that has to call a meeting to figure out: IF WE HAVE 19,000 CFS COMING IN FROM BEAVER HOW MANY CFS SHOULD WE DUMP INTO TANEYCOMO SO TABLE ROCKS LEVEL WILL DROP ???????

I can see them sitting around a table asking each other, what do you think, then OK lets vote, OK we all agree between 13,000 CFS & 14,000 CFS should do the trick.

I agree with Nitroman. The Corp doesn't seem to know how to manage much of anything lately. I don't like to be negative... but they are failing miserably.

OK, I got to vent some so I feel better. Here are the facts, for the last several days the lake has been dropping @ a rate of 5 inches in a 24 hour period. Currently we are @ 929.61 & dropping. So if we do some basic math ( which it seems the USACOE can't figue out how to do ) by Saturday 5/13 we will be between 927 / 928.

I read a projection put out by the USACOE TRL MANAGER that said by maintaing the current discharge rate ( till a level of 920 is reached ) by the middle of July we will be @ 925 & 920 by the 1st. week of August. All I can say to that is, they must be doing some type of " NEW MATH " that I am not familiar with, I bet it's algebra, I failed that class. I guess they don't use any of our taxes & or fees to buy their USACOE staff any calculators. I forgot, they spend it on those pretty uniforms & name tags they wear.

I feel the opposite. Sorry guys. They need to sit around and discuss with others. Everyone knows what is happening right now with the Mississippi floods and whatever decision happens with TR eventually impacts downstream.

So a cautious approach with all parties in this case is pretty much warranted.

Well I would say that evaporation would have to play some part in these projections. On the other hand they do not seem to consider possible additional rainfall coming in. IDK

**SIGH**, I normally don't post much on here and I especially do my best not to get into some of the banter that goes on on this site. I find most of it quite entertaining, however, I think I will stir the pot just a little....

I see many posts on the Corps did this wrong, didn't plan for that, they should have ____________, whatever. I don't always agree nor understand what or why the USACE does what they do, but then again, I am not an engineer. I have my job, which I am very good at. I don't try to be a hair dresser, fire fighter, banker, or engineer. I guess the point is, I am very happy that I have numerous lakes surrounding me that I can go fishing at. I pay $30 a year and I can launch my boat at any USACE ramp as many times as I want. This flood could have been much more of a disaster than what it already is. I am sure that not everything was done in the most perfect manner and some mistakes were made, but how many lives were saved? I feel badly for those who lost property in this mess, but that is a risk of living in a flood plain. I guess if the Corps are really such a bunch of idiots, maybe we should petition our Congresspeople to have the public use areas closed and put up a fence at the GFTL. (Scarcasm) At least there would still be LOZ and Taneycomo we could fish.

I'm going to Table Rock tomorrow. I am thankful that it is there and available for me to go to. I don't think that I am qualified to run a multi-million dollar hydroelectric dam. I have included a link to the website to where you can apply for a job with the USACE if you can do better than those who are there. http://www.usace.army.mil/CEHR/Pages/Home.aspx

I was going to start a new topic and still may but I wanted to weigh in here.

First- I think the Corp has done a good job with this event. And that comes from someone who had 20 inches of water in rental units and a dock that's in half.

They did what they were supposed to- let water out.

Let me ask you - where are they going to put this water you want drained out of Table Rock to get it down to 920? Bull Shoals is full. The Mississippi is experiencing record floods. Add to it? Because dock owners and boater don't want high water? Flood homes, towns, farm land so that we can play? I don't mean to sound flippant -- it's serious stuff.

Right now, we, the Corp, and everyone around and below the dams, are at the mercy of one thing - rain. We got alot of it and now our tubs are 98 full%. Whatever comes now runs over the top and we get flooded again. It's not the Corp's fault. It's our problem- the people who chose to buy homes and businesses next to the water. That's the chance we took.

Beaver has already done what Table Rock is about to do - stop running so much water and start holding it. Don't look for these levels to drop anytime soon. Again, where are they going to send it?

If you want to know where to look to see when they will start releasing water - look at the Mississippi at or below where the White River run into it. When that water starts to drop, then you'll see our lakes starting to drop, not before.

The Corp is reactionary- they don't release water unless there's water on the ground. They won't release, or aren't supposed to by mandate of Congress, on predictions.

We did get word this afternoon, although it was second hand and unsubstantiated, that they were going to shut the flood gates off at Table Rock and cut generation down to 2 units, another indication that they are starting to hold Table Rock's level.

So to answer your question, Kristine, the lake probably won't go down much.
