I am planning a camping/ fishing trip to pomme in mid-late june. I have never been to pomme so any advice is appreciated. I will be shore fishing and we are looking at camping the river and driving to the lake. We have given stockton 3 chances but can never catch a thing. I wont be fishing for anything specific but will bring my cat pole and may rig it up for the elusive muskie. Like I said, any advice would be appreciated.

Nothing specific about Pomme. I usually bank fished and most pulled in panfish of various sorts. I would certainly advise reading through all the relevant forum posts in this section. There appears to be nine pages of them. It can be a slog, but you can really learn a lot hidden in many of the responses.

Just a couple of suggestions, there is a public fishing dock just east of the dam that I see people fish with some sucess. As Oneshot said the Pittsburg park is a good area. There is one of the MDC brush piles just south of the boat ramp that is within casting distance of the bank. I would use a 3/8 or 1/2 oz jig or wt. to find it then fish it with a slip bobber and jig or minnow at about 12 ft. depth. Sorry do not know the campsite number near the brush pile. but there are numerous and there is a sign on a tree near it. take a look at http://newmdcgis.mdc.mo.gov/statewidefishattractors/ there are several that near the bank that you could fish. They tend to hold fish year round.
