What was the justification for Table Rock and Beaver?

I suppose they didn't think Bull Shoals was enough, not to provide enough flood pool to cover the watershed. I don't know what the figures are for BS or Beaver, but Table Rocks flood pool is said to equivalent to 3 1/2" of water over the watershed. I doubt that Bull shoals could contain a normal heavy rain more than once and if it repeated before it could dump the dam would probably be compromised.

I don't think Al is making the same point you keep trying to make. Note the lack of Dumb or Dummies for instance in referring to people who either ended up below dams, or moved there after man built them..

I've said it before and I'll say one more time, so let this sink in real slow like if you really don't get it.

Most, if not all the houses along Taney and other rivers in the Ozarks, were built AFTER THE DAMS. Anyone who has half a brain, knows that those rivers are prone to flooding. The COE did not give out guarantees that the rivers would not flood. The people who did build along the rivers had more than one choice of where to build. They CHOSE to build along the river, knowing full well, that rivers flood. Those who chose to build along the river insetead of higher, dryer ground are just dumb, dense, dim-witted, doltish, dull, feebleminded, foolish, moronic, simple-minded, stupid...

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

The dams HAVE worked well for the most part. It's just that when they don't work the costs are huge because people depend upon them to work.

I'm done "beating around the bush." If you don't get it by now, don't expect me to buy your house on the banks of the river.

And in your condescending ways assume they weren't aware of the possibilities of flooding, just as others are aware of other phenoms. It appears in your book that anyone who takes a calculated risk, be it in business, life, or occupation is one of the above in your infinite wisdom.

It appears to me, in actually making contact with some who are affected, that they aren't crying, just wanting it to be over so they can repair and move on.

It is kind of funny that it hasn't been that many years ago that we were worried that there wouldn't be enough water for generation.
