Montauk Camp And Fish

Hi All,

I am planning a short camping trip during the week following Memorial day. Was wondering if anyone had some advice which loop would be best location for basic tent camping and fishing. I like to fish outside the park as well. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Any loop is about as good as any other. Although if you go to #4 you are closer to the end of the park boundary.

The place is absolutely infested with skunks though. Keep your trash high and eyes open at night. They are really bold down there.

All the non electric sites are in Loop 1, 2-4 are electric...if your going w/o a reservation most of the non-reservable sites are in Loops 2 & 3. Have a great trip.

Thanks for camping info...ended up camping for two nights in loop 1, last time I tent camped was more than 30 years ago. Just like everything else camping takes practice and I really was not good. Second night a little better but very noisy beer drinking immature people made it fairly miserable as well. At least fishing was good and it was nice to be outdoors. Posted fishing report for June 1-3.
