Members Lunker Lane Posted May 31, 2011 Members Posted May 31, 2011 I have a 1999 Triton TR-20 with 1999 200hp Mercury and it's slow to get up on plane. It runs great it's just really slow to get on plane. I'm not real familiar with hot foot, could it be a problem with the throttle? Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Wayne SW/MO Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I know with that many horses you probably shouldn't have a problem. Are you familiar with the operation of the trim? It can make a big difference. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
bigredbirdfan Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Congrats Lunker Lane!!! Fishinwrench will be able to help you isolate what's causing that. When are you taking me smallmouth fishing?
Dutch Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 How many of the plastic plugs are still in the side of the prop? I had to remove 2 from mine to get the thing to come up.
DChance Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Little more info may be needed. Shouldn't be a problem, but 200hp isn't actually that much for a 20 ft boat. What size prop do you have? Could be that your prop is pitched too high. Like mentioned earlier, play with the vent plugs in the prop if it is a tempest or trophy plus prop. Also, how does it perform otherwise? for example at wide open throttle, what is the rpms? this info can help get you more dialed in. The hotfoot really shouldn't have anything to do with it. the only thing that a hotfoot may have any influence over holeshot is if it is not adjusted correctly and not opening the throttle fully.
Members Lunker Lane Posted June 17, 2011 Author Members Posted June 17, 2011 The boat is taking a good 45 sec to get up on plane. It gets to 3000rpms and gets up on plane, the prop is 25 pitch. All of the prop plugs are out. My buddy sat up over the cooler and it seemed to get up quicker. Redbird let's go fishin...
stone9-7=2 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 My friend's boat did that once. When we got back to the ramp,I pulled the plug & drained the water out. Problem solved.. Your problem could be just as simple.....

taxidermist Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 My 25hp on the 21ft river boat jumps on plane as does the lake boat a 17 ft with a 90 hp. With this said what are you doing with the trim on take off?
