Ham Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I was thinking "bring on the Silver carp", but zombies works for me too. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

jdmidwest Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Nicely done, except for the tactical grip on the forearm. I would think that would get in the way of actual use of the slide. Now if it was an autoloader, the grip would word wonders. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

Now if it was an autoloader, the grip would word wonders. It actually enhances the operation of the slide. Due to a fall, and severe shoulder and elbow injury, it is somewhat difficult to operate the slide with my hand in the normal, palm up position. This system works great for me. Thanks for the comments. Probably another resident of the safe except for a couple times a year blowing up watermelons, and pumpkins. The Asian Carp thing does sound interesting though. Wonder if they jump out of the water when a jet boat goes by...Hum! Real men go propless!

Wonder if they jump out of the water when a jet boat goes by...Hum! They do jump, and technically if you shoot them in the air, you are not shooting in the water, so it may be legal. Check the regs. Just make sure you are in the front of the boat when you start shooting..... I have a Mossberg Mariner with a side saddle and the ghost ring heat shield. I use it to dispatch critters around the house and when I float during teal season or am out fishing certain lakes. I cut off a wooden dowel that acts as a plug to make it legal. I have killed a few teal while floating for bass in the yak on some streams and ponds with it. The nickel coating is really durable and it does not take up much space in the boat. I toss it in the sheath while running around on the 4 wheeler too. I looked at a Kel Tec Su16C at the shop like this today but with the fore grip/light/laser. Might be a new ranch gun/home defense tool. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Gatorjet Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 Tried it out this afternoon. Vertical grip worked great. thought about trying it without, but didn't. Sure blew the center out of a B-27 silhouette target@ 10 yds. Now I'm not worried about the zombie apocalypse warning put out by the CDC a couple weeks ago. LOL Also tried out the FEG I picked up a few weeks ago. Worked great, ran about 50 rnds through it without a problem. A little high-left, but sometimes that's me. Oh, Oh, nothing more new to try out. Time for a gun show, or trip to a shop!!! KelTec PMR30 is high on the list when the price in my area comes down below MSRP. Actually, going to be laid up for a while. Hip replacement surgery next Tuesday. That's gonna keep me off the range for a little while. Might give me some time to clean all the cosmo out of a bunch of C&Rs I've got in the safe! That'll give me several new playthings for the range when I can go again. Real men go propless!
Trout Commander Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Nice build for sure. If I ever built one the only thing I would change would be to use one of the 3 position vertical grips so you could collapse it down as applicable and for storage purposes. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Gatorjet Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 The reason I used the tri-rail forearm was so I could attach the vertical grip to the lower rail. One flip of the lock down leaver, and it's off. I have it adjusted very tight so it is secure on the rail when locked down. I also liked the tactical 150 lumen light that is part of the grip. I don't really need the two short side rails, but I thought the tri-rail was the best looking. Real men go propless!
drew03cmc Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I love that Remi...I am looking at picking up a Mossberg 590A1 for turkey duty, sporting clays as well as home defense should the need arise. It will also get a little deer duty with slugs. I love the tactical shotguns and believe they are infinitely more usable than most people think. With the right choke setup, you can shoot a deer at 100 yards accurately with good optics and a slug. Andy
