mic Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I've started to use an indicator leader that I've come to love. I use floatant on the indicator portion, but I was wondering if there is something better. Stupid question from a newbe, but wouldn't a thin coat Vaseline work well? Let me know and thanks in advance.
Danoinark Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Google Mucilin. Find you a tin. Its hard to beat. http://www.yagersflies.com/muflyandlidr.html Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
grizwilson Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 That's what I use also. “If a cluttered desk is a sign, of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign?”- Albert Einstein
mic Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 Google Mucilin. Find you a tin. Its hard to beat. The book I was reading called for that also.
3wt Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I know of a place to get the old-school red tin mucilin, just in case anybody's interested. Last I checked it was pretty tough to find in the classic tin instead of the new plastic container. Big downside of the stuff is that it's very temperature unstable. It can turn to liquid on a hot day and pretty much become just a big greasy stain on your vest. But the tin is cool vintage fly fishing gear.
Trout Commander Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Do tell. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
3wt Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Pauls Bait and Tackle in south St. Louis city. Probably not too convenient for the southwest crowd, but they had several new tins of the stuff, probably been there since the 80's.
Trout Commander Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Ah, bummer. Yeah, not too convenient at all. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
3wt Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Ah, bummer. Yeah, not too convenient at all. If I find myself over that way I can grab one for ya and shoot you a PM.
Trout Commander Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Sounds good. I'm good for the price and shipping. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
