While I know the Carolina rig, I have never seen the Lindy rig.

That is the beauty of this site, I have been a member for going on 3 years now and I simply can't stop learning stuff. Even small differences in rigs and lures makes a huge difference (as you all know).

If you ever stop learning, then you are dead or you have closed your mind and are as good as dead.

Have a great day and thanks again guys and gals,

They use them in Minnesota a lot. the sinker is sometimes different, but use the floats to keep the bait off the bottom a bit more. Mostly used for trolling there. If you are sitting still then they like the Fireball jigs tipped with a minnow.

Here is another version of it http://walleyeguyblog.com/lindy-rig-not-rocket-science. there are a few different versions.

Thanks as usual RPS for the lesson. I have never tried for walleye specifically only caught them on accident while bass fishing. I have a few questions if you dont mind (other opinions are also very welcome):

1- What is the diffence between your rig you have there and the premade lindy rig?

http://www.basspro.com/Lindy®-Floating-Rig-XTreme-Crawler/product/78197/-1207980

2- Does the hook make a difference in the slow death rig so it has the "corkscrew" action?

http://www.basspro.com/Fintech-Slow-Death-Rig/product/10213838/-1661088

3- I see you use a 3/8 bullet weight instead of the weight shown in the slow death or lindy rig...do you find it hangs up less with the bullet?

4- Do you find walleye bite better early, will they bite throughout the day or does it just depend like most fishing?

5- What sort of gear do you use to troll for the wallys? Spinning? Baitcaster? What # mainline are you using? Mono?Fluoro?Braid?

Like I said I have never ever targeted walleyes so any info would be great. I am thinking about maybe coming down next weekend and reports on bass seem to be that they are biting well on jigs early until around 8-9ish AM. So I was thinking about giving the walleye thing a whirl if the bass shut off during the middle/hotter part of the day. I would also be trying this in the Dam Area and if anyone has any locations or types of locations to try I would appreciate it. Have heard that trying these rigs around the several islands in the Dam area can produce some "eyes". Thanks in advance.

Question 1 - No difference, other than color, price, and the fact I put it together instead of buying it, which goes back to price.

Question 2 - Slow death spirals the worm through the water and works best at .8 to 1 MPH. I was fishing at .4 to .6 MPH. The fish wanted a more natural no spiral. That changes from day to day.

Question 3 - I used what I had. Most of the normal walleye weights work well on out lake bottom. The key for me is the premium you seem to pay for technique specific pieces of gear.

Question 4 - Walleye are a nocturnal fish. Most people do better in low light situations -> early, late, night, and heavy chop on the water. However, Many times my best period has been middle of the day. I think it depends on when the schools of walleye move into the area you fish.

Question 5 - I use 7 foot medium power rods with 10# braid (Power Pro Depth Hunter Metered line) and I set them up with baitcaster reels with a good drag. I use the same rods and line when I troll lures.

good luck

looks like a Lindy rig

You are absolutely correct. The only difference between what I did and the standard C Rig or standard Lindy rig was the type of sinker I used and the float.

With as much info as you give everyone I can't think of any one fisherman that deserves a sheer monster eye than you. Thanks for everything you give.
