My brother floated the Jacks Fork last weekend with his family, putting in at 17 and taking out at Rhymers. They camped one night on the river. Had the perfect trip . . . that is, until they got to the take out at Rhymers.

They found their vans rear axle propped up on a large rock, missing the left rear wheel! Fortunately, the thieves left the lugnuts and the hubcap. Still, had to get air for the doughnut spare and limp back to Springfield.

I hate thieves. Hard to imagine that someone didn't see this happening as busy as Rhymers is during the summer.

That's a terrible feeling. Happened at Buck Hollow to a friend of mine a few years ago too. I have someone drive my car to their place overnight and drop it the day I need it. It costs but the peace of mind is nice.

Or it could have been some good hearted flyfisherman that noticed the tire was flat and took it off and went to have it fixed before the owners returned but didn't get it back in time before they put the spare on and left. Yeah right :yaeh-am-not-durnk:

Sadly I'd say that someone not only saw these folks but offered to help, assuming they were just yokels who didn't know how to use a jack! Bummer...

The balls...Rhymers is a very busy access. I can't believe the balls.

I'm hearing about theft at the accesses way too much lately. Worrying about your vehicle all day is a drag when you're trying to enjoy yourself on the river. But what can be done? I'm not holding my breath that the local governments will increase the budgets so we can get more enforcement at the accesses.
