drew03cmc Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Like it says, what are your favorite crankbaits for stream bass, what colors (if you feel comfortable divulging that much information) and why? I am curious what else everyone throws. I will start it out. I like the Rebel Wee Craw in a D77 size for my light spinning rod in ditch craw and stream craw colors. I also favor a silver F5 or F7 Rapala in silver. I ask this question because I am looking to expand my lure selection to some heavier stuff like Wiggle Warts and the like. I was curious what colors everyone liked in crankbaits, along with specific baits for different actions, profiles, etc. Thanks guys! Andy
Jack Jones Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I've done well on the Rebel Crickhoppers in the early evening hours. Black or Green works well for me. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
fishinwrench Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 There's something about Bandit crankbaits that stream smallies like.... but I seldom throw them. I have a Bandit 200 custom painted in the heddon frog pattern that never fails to get hammered. Tossing crankbaits really isn't my style though, except on big slow rivers with dirty water.
jdmidwest Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Shallow Shad Raps in Crawdad or Gold/black, size SSR5 I think. Work good for trout in rivers too. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
RSBreth Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Bomber 4A, Bandit 200, Rapala DT4, Norman Deep Little N, and about fifteen others. Just depends on what the fish want that day. I like baitfish colors when the water's clear, and more orange/red/purple/chartreuse when the water is off color - although one of my top producing cranks in every water color for the past couple of years is this one: Bomber 4A in Chartreuse Blush Bomber 4A

flytyer57 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 The first thing I usually tie on are Rapala shallow shad raps. Color depends on water clarity, but crawdad and silver are high on the list. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Another Shallow Shad Rap fan. I do best in shad, probably because there are so many in streams. Come cool weather it the X Rap in ****. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

drew03cmc Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 Wow all, you are going to break me. So many quality baits, so little time. Andy
