Bassmaster21 Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Patrick M, Idk if u remember the day u caught those fish but I was the kid who you asked if we had a scale. We were the ones who passed you when ur motor wasn't working. Anyways those are two Bice fish. I have caught a handful of 19"+ bass their this year alone. Great lake for bass fishing, and although crappie fishin is slow there, it's got some big ones. Who knows, next state record largemouth might come outta Springfield lake!
Flysmallie Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 There's no better way to cover a small body of water than a float tube. Yes it's slow, but it so much easier and quieter than fishing out of a canoe. Float tubes are not allowed on Fellows or Springfield lake. I have been ran off of Fellows a couple of times. I have also had lengthy discussions with people in charge about allowing float tubes. They always go back to the same thing, there is no swimming allowed in either lake so they don't allow float tubes. Â Â

Tried everywhere and everything, but no luck on the main lake. Think I'll try up river from the 60 next time. Got to see a guy accidentally catch a big spoonbill on the river dam side. That thing was huge ! I think spoonbill and gar are all that's left in the big hole by the dam

When me and my buddy's get bored we fish worms and bobbers by the dam and catch all the bluegill and small bass you could ever want. It's really cool to watch those huge paddlefish surface. I'd hate to "accidentally" catch one on my ultra-light

A guy fly fishing had no luck either. But, there was also no water flow and it was real shallow. Maybe this weekend would be better after the rain

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack

Wasn't he? yeah, must have been you with the face that scares off fish! My dad and I left shortly after helping that guy with his paddlefish. It was the only excitment for us that morning. How'd you end up doing? Funny how that spot changes so much with water flow. Should get better if we get a good soaking
Trout Commander Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 That's me alright. Did as well as you guys did. LOL I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
Patrick M Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Went out yesturday for about an hour and a half and caught 2 between the 2 of us. about a pound each. did find a boat submerged in the lake upside down. looked like a big boat and looked like it had been there a little while. nice covering of moss. has anyone else seen it? wonder if it has a motor on it or if you could retrieve it.
