Daveinozark Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 just wondering, I have out of towners that are interested in doing some bank fishing. We're talking perch and crappies for the most part. I've never been over to Kimberling City and wanted to check it out. Is there any decent bank fishing over there? I've tried by the visitor center at the darn, am I better off going there instead? I know the subject has been brought up before on bank fishing, but just wondering what people think with the heat - other than staying home
magicwormman Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I would try Joe Bald Park, located at the end of Joe Bald Road. The park is actually closed, but you can still fish from shore. The point on the North side is very close to deep water and holds fish year around. You should be able to catch panfish and Bass and it won't be crowded. Good Luck! Vision 5619 1
Daveinozark Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 thanks for the suggestion, I may try that what about Indian point? Would that be a better choice? I'm coming from Ozark, looking for a good spot
Bill Babler Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 That is probably the best info you will get. He picked a great spot for you. Might catch a big wiskered kitty over there is you fish it right. Doubt you will catch any crappie. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Daveinozark Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 that's fine, I'm just looking for a back-up to there. I failed to mention that I'll have kids with me, so I ask about Indian point because I think they have a playground there for when they're done fishing after 10 minutes I've never been to TR other than the visitor center by the darn, and only fished there for a bit. Is the shore on Indian point near deep waters too? We'll be going during the week so hopefully there won't be crowds when it's 100+
abkeenan Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 The spillway at the dam is a pretty good spot in my opinion. I have never fished the bank there myself but always see several people fishing there when I am in the boat fishing that spot. From the spillway where the buoys stretch across to all the way around the point towards the dam I always catch fish. When you get around to the rip rap of the Dam where it is just a straight wall of rock to the dam itself the fishing dies off and I wouldnt waste my time. I have caught very nice fish there including goggle eye, nice largemouths and kentuckies, flat heads and sometimes those dumb white bass will come up there and then it is just on. Best white bass fishing day I ever had was actually right at that location. Massive Massive school of them came up for about an hour and just had a blast on topwater. My 2 cents. -Brett I forgot to add that I also caught an entire rod and reel there also on that point. haha. magicwormman and Vision 5619 2
