You will want too add this to your book collection too..I dont use a sinking line for smallies...They usually arent very deep when they are in the mood to eat, and sinking lines arent that much fun.

Use bigger stuff to keep the panfish off....The #2 Pete seems to keep most of them at bay but you will still hook the occassional goggleeye and green sunfish. Chartruese & Orange & White are the Standard colors...Chartruese is best usually....but you can get them in any color you want from Gaines if you order a minimum of a dozen...

I've been having excellent results on fur strip clousers and circus peanuts. If you tie them big enough the sunfish will stay away for the most part. I use a sink tip line for both small water and big water. I tie most of my flies to be in the 5-6 inch range, and catch smallies from 6-18 inches.

Look for the gurgler and soft hackle streamer. Both should throw quite easily on a 5 wgt. in a sz. 4 version.

Crawfly is dead on with the gurgler. Best smallmouth fly ever. Way, way, waaayyyyy better than a sneaky pete.
