Ain't it the truth Al! I still haven't caught a bass that large. I contribute mostly to the fact that over 90% of my fishing in my life so far has been rivers and creeks.

I did get one to the boat one time, dad says it would have went 8 easy, when I was very young on Spring River in Oklahoma but, didn't get it in the boat. So I can't really count it.

CD should be proud....very nice fish. I think another "bassaniac" has perhaps been enlivened.

And to you Chief: Good story....well done. However, inspire him to complete his angling education....turn him loose with a flyrod!

Always good to hear from you.

A couple "Friday Fishing Fotos" ago Cheif posted just that, I do believe.

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

As a matter of fact I did, didn't I TC.

CD has been fly fishing for about 3 or 4 years or so now. Not sure how it completes the education though. Just add another dynamic in my opinion.

Reminds me of when I was a kid about CD's age, Mom and Dad and I used to fish Wappapello Lake just about every Sunday of the year. There weren't many bass fishermen on the lake back then and the fishing for big bass was great--I'd caught largemouths up to six pounds or more by the time I was eight years old. But seven pounds seemed to be about tops for all of us. There was a big stump field that we'd hit just right about once every summer and catch anywhere from 6 to 10 bass over five pounds in just a half hour of super hot fishing. One time we were on that stump field at just the right time, and were catching big bass. I hooked one, got it all the way in to the boat, and it made one jump right at boat side, which was the first time we'd actually seen it. It was so much bigger than the 5-6 pounders we'd been catching that it was amazing. But in that one leap it threw the hooks on my crankbait...in fact, flipped the lure right into the boat. It took a couple decades after that before I beat the seven pound mark.

Just heartbreaking ain't it?? When I saw Dylan wrestling that fish, I knew if it did get away before we could get a picture, it would have ruined his whole day. More like the whole weekend!

Have you any mounted fish???
