Dutch Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 I have been lurking/joining this site for several weeks. It seems to me to be too general in scope and quite dominated by trout fishing. I think something in the general fishing or perhaps bass fishing instead of all the lakes, streams, creeks, etc. would "perhaps" have more input from some us "lurkers/joiners". Am I in this boat all by myself or are there others like me?
Greg Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 You are entitled to your opinion of course. But I just don't agree at all. I think Phil has done a great job of putting in something for just about everyone. As far as bass go - there is a bass fishing section for goodness sake. What more could be done? It is not anyone's fault that the Taneycomo and trout fishing sections are among the busiest. Maybe the bass fisherman in the state/area just have not found this site yet. It probably has to do with this starting out geared more towards trout fishing. Which is only natural since Phil Lilly lives and has his business on Taneycomo. gonefishin Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Greg is right. Phil did a good job putting up a site for everyone. There are warm water fishing sections on here but, they don.t see much traffic. I spend more days per year fishing for warm water fish than I do trout. Like you I was in hopes there would be more talk about bass, walleye, crappie, bluegill, catfish ect fishing than there is. It just doesnt seem like the people who fish for those types of fish post much. We need to get more people talking somehow. I would rather be fishin'. davekeim Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Chestnut, cool name I guess. Phil has put almost every lake in the state of Missouri and many others on this site. The hits here are because there is a large number of people who enjoy trout fishing. Try one of the bass oriented lake sites that Phil has attached. See if you can drum up some interest there. As I see it there is much more interest in trout than bass. Baked bass with walnut stuffing. Seen everywhere on menus near you. Abdito! Another Beautiful Day In The Ozarks
Kicknbass Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Knock your self out Dutch. The beauty of the site is that the discussion is determined by the participants. I like the format. It is specific to waters of the region, therefore of interest to the folks using the waters of the region unlike other formats that are more general in nature and the discussion is about waters that I am not likely to fish. Phil and many of the regular participants happen to reside and regularly fish waters of SW Missouri, Taneycomo in particular. Therefore, this is the most discussed topic. I agree, I fish for everything, but many who bass fish have not made it here, ether that or they are out fishing and not online  MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Kicknbass Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Tablerock got quite a few good post this spring. Several guides were frequently posting. Of course, they were catching fish then. I suspect the dog days of summer has limited the better fishing experiances. The fish are too deep, and the days are too hot to fish. We need a few particiapants from LOZ. It's like pulling teeth to get info or fishing reports for LOZ. " Too many hobbies to work" - "Must work to eat and play"
jOrOb Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 First of all, welcome Dutch! Your opinion is welcome regardless of it's popularity. I often feel that there are too many sub forums. I skip a great deal of them because they don't fall into my normal routine. As a result, I don't hear the good things going on in other places. So I miss a lot of opportunities. I like the site. The sub forums do make it very easy to find exactly what you are looking for. And, let us not forget that Lilleys Landing is on the upper Taneycomo, and is aimed directly at Trout fishing. Keep up the good work Phil. jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me." Rev MacLean
