Flysmallie Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Might be fun to pick one idea every two weeks or so and have a photo posting for that. Such as the freezing the action picture....everyone has two weeks to post a picture like that (settings they used) and compare notes. Tim-- I like your idea and would be willing to participate or even set it up. Do it. I would participate.
techo Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Feel a small bit of guilt for having an idea and not having the knowledge to set it up. If you are willing...... Tim Carpenter

Billfo Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Cocry , Dont know your experience level with DSLR but here is what I did.. Our Comm College has 4 hour weekend non credit classes on DSLR and even some 2 hour evening classes dedicated to digital photography. Teaches you in actual practice how to use each setting.. I am finishing up my 3rd class soon & can't tell you the mass improvemnet of my photos.. AND I had alot of fun in class too ! Not to distract from fishing- but you will find that bringing that camera along with you when your on the boat can have some big rewards.. Disclaimer: I use a cheaper digital point & shoot for my fish pics as I wouldn't want fish slime on my big Nikon.. AND in the right hands some newer point & shoot -ike my Olympus rivals some 35mm DSLRs.. I have the D5000 . (maybe yours is similar) the P (program mode -different than Auto) will let you over ride the exposure which is very easy to do once you read how (or watch a youtube video). The rest the camera will take care of the rest of the settings. This was the FIRST thing we learned in class & that helped my pics well beyond the Auto mode. I bought a DVD for my specidic camera model- I watch it alot for reference. I wish I could have gone back & reshot the thousands of pics I took in Auto.. Ther are ok, but lack in "pop" ... Good luck & have fun- have a thick skin for critque- we all keep on learning.. Looking fwd to your pics. Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
