Brian K. Shaffer Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 " My Chotas are seven years old. Fished all over the place with them. I ordered out a new pair of Redingtons today. If they last as long as the Chotas I'll be 80 years old by then. I figured to fish until I'm 90, and then see how it goes from there. " More power to ya. Great post. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Njardar Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 A lot of great humor...got a good laugh from this thread. So I can't use my felt soles next year which leaves Vibram, but just the soles alone or with a stud/cleat? (I may regret that). For example Simms has two different star cleats and one stud, but which is right for Missouri rivers such as the current. (Stud?) Or, should I try one and if I bust my butt, crawl out, put in a different set and try again? (No need to reply to this question). Seriously, is there much of a difference or are they pretty much the same? Thanks!
Members Liv2flyfish Posted January 19, 2012 Members Posted January 19, 2012 I will be interviewing MDC Stream Coordination Biologist, Mark Van Patten on Monday Jan. 23 about the felt sole ban and the spread of Didymo in Missouri Waters. This interview will be the Feb. 2012 show of Liv2flyfish Radio. I got the idea for this interview from this forum and alot of the questions I will be asking Mr. Van Pattern comes from questions from this forum as well. I hope you will listen and spread the word. Hopefully it will be very informative. It should be ready to drop on Itunes by Jan. 25. I am an avid fly fisher. I love fishing the Ozarks and the White River watershed from the spring creeks to the tailwaters.
Members Liv2flyfish Posted January 20, 2012 Members Posted January 20, 2012 I took this pic in Arkansas at the Beaver tail waters on April 26, 2010. That water flows through Missouri. drew03cmc Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 That doesn't appear to be didymo. That appears to be your standard garden variety moss. Andy
Members Liv2flyfish Posted January 22, 2012 Members Posted January 22, 2012 It is Didymo. It was confirmed. I am an avid fly fisher. I love fishing the Ozarks and the White River watershed from the spring creeks to the tailwaters.
drew03cmc Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Alright, my observation was incorrect, which is not a new thing, but I am big enough to admit it. Andy
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Cricket according to the VanPatten video it won't be hard for them. It doesn't sound to me like it will do much more than get someone past opening day. I wonder how the coating used to insulate tools would work. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Liv2flyfish Posted January 25, 2012 Members Posted January 25, 2012 This month on Liv2flyfish Radio our guest is Mark Van Patten, Missouri Department of Conservation Stream Coordination Biologist. We talk about Didymo in Missouri streams and the felt sole ban. This a very informative and important issue. It's free at www.liv2flyfish.com and Itunes. Please spread the word, not the Didymo. Thank you. I am an avid fly fisher. I love fishing the Ozarks and the White River watershed from the spring creeks to the tailwaters.
