Members Nategooding Posted October 16, 2011 Members Posted October 16, 2011 Hello all, I just moved in the area for school, and I was wondering if there was anyone who knew any good spots to shore fish at Stockton? I have gone out a couple of times without very good results. I was hoping to catch some crappie and maybe a wally or 2. Anyway if there are any successful shore fishermen out there that wouldn't mind giving out some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Or if you want to take me out on your boat I wouldn't complain either;)
dennis boatman Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 East side of hwy 215 Bridge...especially on the south side... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
straw hat Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I would suggest you go to Walmarts and pick up a Hot Spot map of Stockton. That will give you an idea were there is access to rock riprap, parks/camp grounds ans other areas. You can also go to the USGS website and look at their maps for more info. http://store.usgs.gov/b2c_usgs/usgs/maplocator/(ctype=areaDetails&xcm=r3standardpitrex_prd&carea=%24ROOT&layout=6_1_61_48&uiarea=2)/.do Good luck.
dennis boatman Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 right now, the lake is so low, I haven't even been taking the boat...fishing has been great... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
Gilly Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Low you say???? Pish posh....just because the brush piles are sitting on the shore line.... www.drydock516.com
Members Time Killer Posted October 18, 2011 Members Posted October 18, 2011 Greenfield access, to the right of boat ramp, towards CC bridge is good most of the time for a few keeper crappie. Good luck!

The gate will be closed when the camping season is over(possibly now)???? You will have to walk in. The channel runs close to the bank and as it gets colder the fish will suspend in the deep water along that bank. Will probably need to slip bobber at the right depth with a heavy split shot to keep the bait vertical. This will probably be good for most of the winter, but a north wind will be hard to endure.
Members clf989s Posted October 20, 2011 Members Posted October 20, 2011 I like the West side of Ruark as well. However I had pretty good luck at Crabtree Cove this past week. You can fish off the dock or walk all the way around the cove. Fished from 6-8:30 on Saturday night and caught 3 bass and 5 whites. Went back the next morning and caught 4 more whites with a really nice one directly across the from the fishing dock across the cove. Caught 3 more bass with 1 keeper at 16 inches.
