As to hops -- I'm on the other end of the scale. I prefer the malt side of things generally. A citrusy finishing hop is nice in some cases, but bitter isn't my thing. As for home brewing, I've moved more towards ciders the last few years. They're easier to make and appeal to more folks. They're pretty refreshing too, unlike most beers.

If you like ciders, you need to try CROWN VALLEY. The strawberry cider and blackberry cider are amazing. the strawberry is really good mixed with guniness as a stout & cider, it is also really good mixed with piney river brewing- black walnut wheat

Hmmm. Haven't heard of Crown Valley -- I don't think they're in KC. Also, haven't seen Piney River in our stores. Also also -- never heard of a 'stout and cider'. I never would have thought to mix those two. There's a new cider making a push in our market from MillerCoors called Smith & Forge. Pretty good stuff -- less sweet than a Woodchuck, more sweet than a Crispin. Stella Artois Cidre is pretty good too.

+1 on the Leaky Roof. I've got a couple of their growlers I need to get refilled.

I've only had leaky roof's cyser, I believe they have a blackberry mead as well.
